This is an average shot of salmon taken from the observation platform at Katmai NP. 7 7 ???
Composition is average, subject average, tonalities average.
See http://imagescommerce.bcentral.com/merchantfiles/4842940/posterframed1698.jpg
This is IMO what a 7 7 image looks like from this sight.

A good idea with great execution.
Well done!

This technique has created a lovely effect!

This shot has a layered look and a soft pastel quality to the light that I find appealing.

I really love the contrast between the elements which are diagonal but should be vertical and the elements that are horizontal which should be diagonal. It produces a visual confusion which I rather enjoy.

The composition here works very, very well.
The eye flows from the right most tree to its neighbor to the center of the wonderful cloud.
The viewpoint them gradually settles gently back to earth. The tone is gentle and the colors subtle but wonderful. No overblown hyper PN saturation to attract attention. Very well done.

First rate watercolor effect. Well done!

Great execution and originality. Jim, I bet you're one of those people who don't remember the 60's. I haven't seen anything like this since at least 1969.
And photoshop doesn't even give you flashbacks. :-)

A very interesting and nice shot. I do feel the Velvia created an image that was excessively contrasty. IMO in bright light at altitude, Provia 100F yields a more pleasing range of tonalities and color. If you prefer the warm look an 81B does the trick. I live in the Rocky Mts and shoot almost exclusively above 2000 meters elevation. You might give Provia a try on your next alpine trip.

The sun adds a strong point of focus to this image making it's composition much stronger than the sunless version. IMO this is clearly the better of the two. Well done!.

Ditto the above!

A different more somber version of your original shot. I like it very much as well, but I do think I prefer there lighter mood of the original.

Very nice variation of a classic theme..

Well seen and well done Kenneth. I especially like the overall composition and balance of the shot. The forground pockets of water catching the light in the sky is a real plus.
-
It was shot with Velvia. Maybe 1/3 f-stop underexposed. No color push in Photoshop.
The upper left corner was burned slightly to focus the viewpoint to the center of the flames. Many people would consider Velvia chemically enhanced color. :-)

A composite image that works. Most altered sky composites look fake, this does not. Well done!
-
Nicely done. A good use of the diagonal in this composition along with good color harmony.
-
Very original and a stunning contrast un forms.
-
The crop & the color is more captivating than the original. It will probably sell very well.
-
Good composition and very good light and tonalities.
Well done!

Hi Leigh,
I feel the increased contrast & saturation make this version of the shot more appealing than the first one you had posted. The mood is enhanced and you can almost feel the sun about to pop out.
In the starburst shot, I feel the original less saturated and contrasty version was more appealing. The bright blue sky patch detracts from the central focus of the sun burst. The slightly more saturated sand had the same effect. The overall result was a conflict with rather than an enhancement of the fine composition.

The chartreuse - rose color harmony works very well here. The soft impressionistic tonality adds to the overall effect. IMO a very well conceived image.

A lovely image. I love the contrast in both forms & light. In addition the strong point of focus is used effectively. Well done!
