Walter, I really like the composition and color harmony in this very nice image. The added sky is definitely a plus. I do feel the dark forground and very light sky at top tend to flatten the perspective of the image. A sort of depth inversion is taking place. I used the PS CS highights/shadows command to lighten the forground a tad and darken the upper sky a tad. I think the result is more depth to an already very nice image. See what you think.. keep up the good work.

Excellent composition!

Perfect composition here Ken.
One of the best shots of Havasu I've ever seen.
I look forward to making it there myself. Well done!

Since you asked for a constructive critique. I downloaded your image and did a little work in Photoshop. I lassoed the upper part of the image and lightned the shadows with the PS CS adjust Shadow/Highlights command. I then inverted the selection and darkened the forground highlights with the same command. I then tweaked the crop a tiny bit. The result is a Velvia like look which you might like. Enjoy and keep on shooting.

Hi Momo,
My wife and I were at White Sands the same time you were. There was a car behind us at the gate on the morning of Dec 28th. I wonder if it was you? Keep up the good work.

Missing image from above post.

Perfect timing!
I might be tempted to crop out a little
more of the flower on the bottom.

Very nice symmetry and color..

A visually well thought out and executed composite image. Nicely done!

Very nice "moonlight" shot Henri. The only
improvement I might suggest is lightening up the right side a little to bring out the detail.
Well done!

Nice composition & light . I might shave a tiny bit off the top to tighten it further. Well done though!

Very nice composition & light. Well done..

This photo has that lovely impressionistic feel of some of your early PN shots. Very nice!

Here I'm refering to a split neutral density filter. It is grey on top and fades to clear on bottom. It's used in a holder which allows its position to be adjusted up or down. Normally its used to darken the top of an exposure to prevent overexposing the sky.

A lovely macro shot!

Very nice detail photo. I love the colors & tonalities present here. Very well done!

Congrats on your POW. As per usual keep up the good work and enjoy your 20 minutes of fame! :-)

Gee, this a great shot. First rate composition, light, tonality & color. I viewed the version on your sight against a dark backgroynd in PS, it sings. Unfortunately many of the folks now rating in the landscapes section on PN don't get it!!

I agree with Peter, you've caught up to me. I
guess I'll have to pedal my 645 faster. :-)
Great shot Ken, super composition, light & tonality!
Very well done indeed ..

I seem to remember seeing this shot in a less contrasty, less saturated version. This version works much better. It has a somewhat unusual blue-black-green color harmony which gives it a lovely mood. The improvement I might suggest is to lower the contrast in the upper left corner somewhat to reveal a little more detail in this area. Anyway well done Ken.

Tom Till has a shot he has published and sells in his gallery which is very much like this. I believe Tom was the first person to publish a shot from this location.
