  1. Yes..... Ektar is probably my "favorite" color negative as well. What i like about Color Plus 200 is the price. Super cheap and the color does not disagree with me at all. It reminds me of the pictures my parents took of us kids, at Disneyland, in 1972. It looks a Kodak Picture Spot Film taken with the family Instamatic....... :) Days gone by. :(
  2. I did not read everything, so i am sorry if i repeat. Your fix is New/Fresh.? What was your dilution.? How "dark" is your darkroom. No light-leaks, near you from doors or windows. Are there any types of Security, Electronics, Equipment lights on....blue or red.?
  3. Well Done That is a pretty nice frame IMHO. Alan cropped your photo a bit, and it made a big difference. It was an improvement in my opinion. I am NOT a sports guy, i am just a hack street photographer, but....... these types of photos always look a bit odd to me. Dragging the shutter And/Or just a bit of panning can add some life to the picture. Athletes, Dancers, Animals, when they are stopped in action like that, just hanging there. It is not always the best look.........
  4. For a lot less money than a Body and Lenses..... are you opposed to buying a (used) flash and some affordable modifiers...maybe even make your own.? You can get some very affordable stands and shoot-throughs..... especially on the used market. As others have said, do you really want to Have To shoot at f/1.8 or larger..... And/Or a big ASA? That can be a rather shallow DOF for general portraiture.
  5. I do not use D-76 anymore, but when i did..... it was "Stock" for storage in bottles and 1:1 for development..... use it once and toss it out.
  6. Circa 2020, at 60 years of age, i have stopped looking back. There are films i DO lament the loss of, but at this point........ i shoot HP5 and FP4.....for color i shoot Provia 100 and Kodak Color Plus 200. They are not "The Best" for everything, but they are Good Enough for everything. :)
  7. Good For You..... I am your average looking, older White-Guy, with all gray hair. I frequently do not fit in (Visually) with many people in the Art/Photography world. But it is just like all fields, once you get past the outer appearance, we all have interests in the same field of work. I may not understand or live in the same world as others, but that does not stop me from Associating or Learning from them. I have learned some awesome lighting tricks from a "Frumpy" looking lesbian, and learned how to make some very clever Dodging and Burning tools from a couple of outwardly gay men. I would be hurt, if other photographers did not want to associate with me, simply because they found out i am a Heroin Addict. :)
  8. Good info. Here is some quick reading courtesy of Wikipedia - "Mass-produced fisheye lenses for photography first appeared in the early 1960s and are generally used for their unique, distorted appearance. For the popular 35 mm film format, typical focal lengths of fisheye lenses are between 8 mm and 10 mm for circular images, and 15–16 mm for full-frame images.
  9. Tilt-Shift..... have you tried another lens.? Perhaps a 50mm.?
  10. Unless the OP is about 14 year old....... Am i the only one that thinks this all sounds asinine.? The OP wants to start a business, that requires taking "portraits". He does not have a camera and does not know what camera to buy, or where to buy it.? Does this make sense.? I want to start a window-washing business. What is a good bucket and squeegee to buy.? Where would i buy the bucket and squeegee and how much will they cost.? Don't you already know.....haven't you already been doing it at SOME Level.?
  11. Either a cotton rag or a micro-fiber from The Dollar Store.
  12. Maybe somebody tried to "Clean" the mirror.? At any rate, that is not the normal look of an OM2 You could by a donor, which is never a bad idea for any Film SLR at this point.
  13. Yeah, i have given up on Foto-Flo. I do a final in Distilled, hang it up, and wipe dry the shiny side of the film. I "never" see anything......... :)
  14. I have not shot it myself but coincidentally, in the last 1-2 years i have run into several people that were. They were all indoors at a few different Parties/Receptions. I never saw the outcome, but the photographers said they got "Good Results" Like a lot of things, i suppose you will simply have to try a few rolls yourself. good luck
  15. IMHO..... that is a beautiful job with the sky.
  16. Yeah, this all seems very weird to me....... "Street Photography"..... not ethical.? Telling some ramdom guy on the street that some other random guy called his wife an ugly horse, just so he can photograph a fight... THAT is unethical. Simply photographing and documenting life, as it unfolds in front of you has no connection with "ethics". By some definitions on this Forum, Vivian Maier was, perhaps, the Biggest offender of ethics in recent photographic history. :(
  17. Somebody did step (and drive) on the moon again.....and again and again. Of course You are correct. The pictures definitely were not the main purpose of Apollo-11. But to emphasize my point, by the time Apoloo-13 went up, The National Dog Show was drawing more viewers. The "only" reason people tuned into was because of the disaster. Interest had waned already. Nobody wants to watch the Titanic sink a second time. Being the first isn't everything, but it is a lot. :)
  18. Wow.! Maybe it is simply my lack of ability in the genre, but.......this guy Must Have/Could Have been the ultimate in commercial and product placement photography :)
  19. I believe it is the "Back Story" of the photos that make them important, interesting, relevant, etc etc. He was documenting a time of life that was interesting to him. Looks like he had an MFA. Those degrees are a lot of work We have all heard the phrase ....."A camera is just a tool"..... Mr. Sweet used a tool to record something he deemed to be important and/or interesting. He knew what he was doing. Many of his other pics, Color and Black and White, have a decidedly different look to them. Mr. Sweet took the beach pictures to document a slice of time. You could not take those picture in the last 30 years "Anybody Could Have" taken many of the photos that Ansel Adams took. But he popularized it first.. "Anybody" could have taken the frames that Eddie Adams and Nick Ut shot in Vietnam. They could have taken those and Hundreds more. But nobody cares after it is done once. Lisa Gherardini could have been painted dozens and dozens of times.....but NOBODY would care. Mr. Sweet did what he did, what somebody duplicates after that is not likely to hold much sway......... "Yeah mister. Your photos look just like MR. SWEETS photos. When other photographers start bringing in photos that look like YOUR pictures, then we will start to give a shot". No way in Hell i am authorizing Billions Of Dollars to watch a guy step out onto the moon again. The photos from 1969 are all we need.
  20. Did you want a guarantee.? It's the perfect lens, until you want something longer. Not to be cliche, but....... "Its' why Baskin & Robbins made 31 flavors". Do you have other lens.? Spend 20 minutes comparing them and imagine the scenarios.
  21. If i could not print, in a red light, darkroom......... i would not shoot film anymore :( Do the basics, enough to get printing again, and make improvements over the next 1-2 years. :)
  22. Wow.....that is an Awesome shot.! Did you scan that....is that a print that you own.?
  23. Very hard to imagine why nobody has given this a Thumbs Up, or made a comment. Anyway.....this is AWESOME, thanks for posting.! My photo teacher knew Rick Prelinger in some manner. I think it was a family connection. She appears in the video, in the audience, at the 3:30 mark. God BLESS You, Sarah. :) The Prelingers are a Fascinating Story. Thanks Again
