  1. How do I create a new folder or gallery on this new PN site? The site is attractive, but not user friendly. Please advise on creating a new gallery folder. Thanks. Larry
  2. Alf, I clicked on this not knowing it is yours. As soon as it appeared I knew it has your signature all over it. I did so just after studying some Emily Dickinson poems for a class I'm taking. Silent Witness, is a perfect title and is as poetic as is your image. Nature speaks ominously in this image. It's beautiful and eerie at the same time. The eerie mood in the sky reaches the leafless tree. The diagonal lines help the image to communicate. The sharp detail in the foreground is perfectly offset by the hazy and angry sky. I like the small bush to the right of the tree and the clarity in the foreground rocks. Sorry for the rambling. Wonderful image. Larry
  3. Peter, Wonderful image. The smooth motion of the river is well executed. You did a great job on this one. Larry
  4. John, I really like the natural look of these falls in their broad surroundings. The image is technically perfect and enchanting. Larry
  5. John, I have been perusing your most impressive portfolio. I discovered one of your images of what looked like a far view of the outer Hebrides. Your images have wonderful detail and feeling. This dawn image could also be considered an abstract because of its simple and effective lines. I might experiment with darkening the sky a bit with a Camera RAW ND filter and also with cropping some from the top. The image works well as it is. These ideas are just my thinking out loud. Nice image. Larry
  6. I just purchased the Rokinon 16mm f.20 to use for capturing the Northern Lights this coming fall. It is a manual lens. Do you know if the read-out information in the viewfinder is dependable with this lens on the D7000? Or do I need to set the aperture using the aperture dial on the lens itself? This question goes for the shutter speed read outs as well. It seems that the settings are changing in the viewfinder as I change the back and front dials on the camera. Excuse me for what seems like an obvious silly question. Thanks. Larry
  7. Using D7000 with Rokinon 16mm f.20
  8. Francis and All, I am a late comer on this issue. I just purchased a Rokinon 16mm f.20, which is a manual lens, for capturing the Northern Lights this fall. I had the same Fee error problem. Setting f6 to aperture ring resolved the problem. The newer electronic lenses seem to work OK in the aperture ring setting as well. Thanks, all for your input. Larry
  9. Holger, So this is a boardwalk. Or, is it that fit guy in the foreground and the woman jogger approaching him that caught your eye? LOL. Nice clear street image. Larry
  10. Holger, Thanks for your comment. Yes, the light posts frame the image. As for the foreground walk, I think it's actually tilted a bit in its construction. While I like this image, my preference of the three is the one with the walk in front. Taking this images was not planned. I did the whole thing in less than five minutes. Thanks for stopping by and returning. Larry
  11. Chris, This is an excellent capture. It is difficult to create a superb composition like this with the action moving so fast. The image is effectively intense with sharp detail. Larry
  12. Chris, Thanks for your visit. I was concerned about the image being too heavy in the foreground. I appreciate your comment. Larry
  13. Holger, Thanks for weighing on these images quickly. You are right about the streak of light in the foreground being an important element. Larry
  14. Eystein, Thanks for you visit. I tend to agree with you about this being the best of the three. It takes outside eyes to help determine such things. Thanks for lending me your eyes. Larry
  15. Kamala, This is a most impressive sunset. It is most deserving of being photo of the week. Congratulations. Is this an HDR. I ask because the sky looks a tad surreal. Still it's a wonderful image, well seen and presented. Thanks for visiting my images. Larry

    Public Dock

Dusk and darkness were settling in as I stopped to capture a few images. Please comment and critique this image. Thanks. Larry

    Walk on Down

I quickly stopped at the lake as dusk and darkness were taking over. I wish the bright yellow at far right was blended better with the rest of the sunset. Please critique and comment on this image. Thanks. Larry

    Empty Docks

I stopped by the lake as dusk and darkness were settling in. Your critique and comments are appreciated. Thanks. Larry
  19. Patsy, Thanks for all of your visits. I appreciate your connection. i was trying to capture detail without too much contrast. I actually lowered the clarity on this in editing to smooth it out, but was careful to maintain detail. Thanks again. Larry
  20. Eystein, Thanks for your visit and nice comment. Larry
  21. The Mississippi starts at Lake Itaska in norther Minnesota where it is a tiny trickle. This is a little spur off of the river as it goes around Nicollet island in Minneapolis. This laid back spot must have attracted lots of walkers because the entrance to this area is blocked off- people like to step over barricades. Thanks for your visits and friendship. Larry
  22. Patsy, Thanks for viewing this image. I like it because of its soft rather than contrasty. Also, the people on the bridge make the image work. Thanks , again. Larry
  23. Christal, A gem of yesteryear. This must be some sort of reenactment. Well done. Larry

    Twins

Christal, Aren't little kids wonderful? Great image. Both children look really engaged. Larry
