  1. I just got my D500 and have not used the XQD slot. What is your experience with XQD cards? I do a lot of travel photography and have a Western Digital My Passport Wireless Pro portable hard drive for moving daily shot-shoots off cards and into the hard drive. The portable hard drive has a USB port where I could hypothetically plug in a XQD card reader. I appreciate learning about your experiences with XQD. I would likely buy one or two 32GB XQD cards with a card reader. Thanks. Larry
  2. Holger, Thanks for the visit. I took a photography class out on a bright washed out day, and this was all I could find to shoot that wasn't washed out by the sun. So, you are correct - I did the most with what I had. I don't like my name where it is either. On this image, I wanted it to show up more as a watermark than a signature. I am not sure how the changes in this site influence what people do with our images. Thanks again, Holger. Larry
  3. I just bought a D500, upgrade from D7000. I would check out buying the camera from B&H Photo and Video. You'll get a good price and excellent customer service from B&H. Larry
  4. I just purchased a D500 too. Be sure you do not make an processing choices in the menu settings. Leave white balance on auto, shoot RAW, and choose standard rather than vivid or anything else for the color selection. I can't remember which menu standard is in. Good luck with resolving the problem.

Holger, Nice image. I like the vertical derail in the boardwalk. Larry
  6. Hi Holger, Nice image. I like the way the old pier lumber leads the eye across the bay creating nice depth. The light and clouds are excellent. Personally, I'd prefer this without the white border around it. That hems it in for me. Also, I'd lower the contrast on that pier. i recently took the advice of a masterYosemite photographer, Michael Frye, who pointed out that contact in camera RAW should be set at -33 to adjust for over contrast. Have a nice summer. Larry.
  7. I like this image because of the lines and design. To me the image is an abstract that has "old value" as well. It's an old elevator. This was shot with an iPhone, no other camera with me, Please comment. You need to click on the image to get the black page, which is easier to see. Thanks. Larry
  8. This old mill elevator was the original General Mills Flour Mill that produced Gold Medal Flour. Today, the mill is a museum. Your comments are appreciated. Larry
  9. Patsy, Thanks for viewing and commenting on this image. It's not easy to communicate on PN with this new site. That's why I have shied away. I am not at all comfortable with it. Larry
  10. Let's keep up the connection in spite of PN web site woes. Larry
  11. Lynn, People of all cultures are entranced by devices. This is an excellent image with lots of nonverbal communication. Larry
  12. Lynn, These images are amazing. You have captured the light perfectly with tack sharpness and terrific composition. This is my favorite too. I searched for you r images on PN to no avail at first. Then in screening through results for a search for "Mass" I happened upon this wonderful set. This new PN website is terrible. Nice to connect with you again. Larry

Sreten, Thanks for your comment and compliment. For me, images like this are about simplicity. I appreciate your scanning through my images. Best to you. Larry
  14. Hi Holger, I appreciate your comment on this image. I agree, it's not a pretty scene, rather grungy in the foreground for sure. I do like the reflections and am thinking that it might be cropped from the top. I haven't been on PN much because I am so frustrated with it. I seem to have lost contact with people. I find it a pain to muddle through. I'd appreciate your sending me your personal e-mail address, so we can be in touch beyond PN. You can send it to lgreenbaum2@gmial.com Thanks. Larry
  15. I would appreciate any experience with or opinion about the Nikon D500. Reviews say its the top DX camera available. Agree, disagree, other . . . Thanks. Larry
  16. We were on an art studio tour and stopped at a house to see pottery. Right next to the driveway I saw this bit of local color. I liked the reflections and the look of the overall image. Please comment with your opinions. Thanks. Larry

  18. What is your experience using DX lenses with a full frame camera body? I currently use a Nikon D7000 and am thinking of upgrading to a D810 full frame camera. I have a Tokina 12-24mm DX lens as well as a Rokinon 16mm f.20 lens. Is it worth upgrading to the D810? I am not planning to spend the money to upgrade to the FX Nikon 14-24mm f2.8 at this time. I also have a Nikon 70-200 mm f4 lens that I am using on the D7000. I believe it is an FX lens. What's your opinion on using DX lens with the D810? Thanks. Larry

Becca, I just ran into this image logging into PN. Wonderful shot with great mood. Nice wedding image. I've been by this corner many times, but haven't seen it look like this. I would get rid of or dropout the stop sign and the partial street sign, Well done. Larry
  20. Tony, You have many amazing images in the ones you posted from your trip. I continue to have difficulty with this new site. The fact the you only have four responses here tells me the site is not working. The wait to open anything is way too long, if one can get to the right place at all. This is a nice unusual view. The person and clouds do it for me. Nice. Larry

  22. This image was captured with transparency slide film in 2003. The foggy mood and cool soft color appeals to me, but the image suffered from being quite grainy. This image predates digital, at least for me. I have re-edited it using DxO Optics Pro noise reduction. IMO the result is quite good, especially since it is a jpg. DxO's software is really intended for editing RAW images. Your comment and opinions are appreciated. Larry
