Rosario, Excellent artistic image. Your photo vision was astute in this iconic place. Well done. I hardly use PN anymore. I, like many, have lost contact with PN friends because of this clumsy website. Take a look at ephotozine.com It is more like the old PN. Larry
  2. Tom, Many thanks for your response. I looked at your Uluru and Kata Tjuta images. As I expected, the landscape is much like the Southwest in the U.S. You were fortunate to be at these places at different times to catch different light. You seem to affirm the places we mentioned. You surely have done much diverse travel. We are definitely interested in the Outback and Have Uluru on our list. Kaya Tjuta looks even more interesting. Many thanks for your response. You have many nice images as memories of your travel. Thanks again. Larry
  3. J.M. Many thanks. This is the kind of information we need. I'll check your portfolio for images, that is if I can get to them on this clumsy website. Thanks again. Larry

J.M. Hi, Thanks for responding to my post about Australia. I assume these five images were taken at the Echidna place you mentioned? I like the lion the best. The exposure is right on. There's quite a variety of animals here. Thanks. Larry
  5. Kamala, This is excellent, the grandeur of El Cap pours right out of the image. I like the point of view here too. I couldn't seem to find a good spot to capture El Cap when we were at Yosemite. Sorry I have not connected more - having so much trouble with this new site. Larry
  6. My wife and I are planning a four-week trip to Australia from the United States that would likely take place in May 2018. We have a couple of travel guides and are using the Internet, but would like insight and ideas from PN users in Australia and/or from those who have traveled extensively in Australia. Is Qantas the airline to use? We understand there is a Qantas pass if one makes an international reservation on Qantas. We are interested in a good exposure to the country, the people, culture, history, nature, and photography (my wife does not do photography, but is great and patient with my camera mania). We realize there will likely be significant travel within Australia. Some of the places we have identified in no particular order or priority yet include: Sydney; Blue Mountains,;Adelaide; Great Ocean Road; Melbourne; Kangaroo Island; Great Barrier Reef and Daintree National Park or Ningaloo Reef in Western Australia; Darwin and Kakadu National Park; and the Ghan train between the south and Darwin stopping at Uluru and other recommended outback places. All of this is completely flexible at this point. We realize the need to be selective as we want a genuine and somewhat intensive experience. Do you know of any Australian travel services that would help in trip planning and possibly provide experienced guides in different locations? We don't just want to be tourists. And, I'd like to come home with some quality, memorable images. Thanks for your time and your insights. Many thanks. Larry
  7. Holger, This is wonderful. It is simple, balanced and effective. Nice eye it seeing it this way. Excellent. Larry
  8. Hi Holger, You exposed this lovely scene perfectly and captured it nice and sharp. It is a well captured and exudes calmness and relaxation, but I am wondering if it seems a little static. I'm looking to find something going on in the image, and it's not there. Please don't take this negatively, I don't mean to rain on all the terrific comments before mine. I do like the image, just being real critical I guess. Larry
  9. Daniel, This looks like it could be Quebec City or a street in Old Montreal. Excellent image with the curve and the duotone look. The lights on the buildings create excellent lighting. Nice image. I have connected much, but am trying to get back to PN in spite of my problems with this site. Larry

    Heron

Holger, I shot a burst of images with a fast shutter speed. My lens has excellent optics and vibration reduction. Hence the nice detail when hand held. Thanks for noticing the detail here, Holger. I really appreciate your connections, my friend. Larry

    Heron

Please click on the image to get it sized on the screen. This is a mid-day shot that suffers from ripples in the water. The image is hand held, as I was concerned that I didn't have the time to set the camera on the tripod. Please comment. Thanks. Larry

Tony, Excellent dramatic cityscape. You have taken advantage of excellent lighting and weather conditions. Larry
  14. Clayton, This is an excellent image. The fog, composition, and reflections work nicely to create an artisitc image. Is this Norway?
  15. Holger, Achoo! What a whimsical collage. Setting this up must have taken your mind off the cold. Care to share any secret methods? Larry
  16. Thanks, Holger. Sorry I haven't been surfing PN much. The website is still a pain to me. Larry
  17. While walking at the Wayzata art fair, I decided to get a couple lake shots. The sky was cooperative. Please comment. Thanks. Larry

  19. Wonderful, Tony. You caught some nice cloudy days. I like the simplicity of this image. Larry
  20. Wow, This has generated a lot of interesting response. Thank you all. Since I have a D500 with XQD and SD slots, I will make the SD card a backup slot. That way I can transfer the files to my WD My Passport Wireless Pro hard drive using the SD slot in the portable hard drive. I will try out the XQD using a card reader with USB before using it in the field. If it works fine. if not, I'll stick to the SD card for transferring files. Larry

    The El Capitan

Kamala, i like the texture and tones in El Capitan. You do a beautiful job capturing the grandeur of this monolith. I congratulate you on your whole Yodsemite series. You may want to check out Michael Frye's work at Yosemite. I used his book Digital Landscape Photography In the Footsteps of Ansel Adams and the Great Masters for a photography class I just taught. It is quite good. Happy summer. Larry
  22. Hi Kamala, Thanks for the compliment on this image. One of my favorite photographers, Jack Dykinga, says that Blue Hen Falls is his preferred place in Ohio for photos. Obviously, the season changes the scene completely. I haven't been too active on PN as I have lots of trouble with this new website. i will try to follow you though. Thanks. Larry
  23. Thanks to all: Danny, Rick Ikka, ShunCheung. The remaining conundrum is whether I can use the USB file on the XQD with a USB XQD reader to download daily files to my portable WD My Passport Wireless hard drive. I appreciate all of your responses. Larry
