Jockeying for Position!

Saad, Many thanks for your note. It is an accomplishment to be merly remembered never mind actually MISSED! :-) I stopped participating here over 3 years ago but still follow my hobby. I bought a Nikon 200-500 f5.6 and have been concentrating on photographing birds. A very rewarding passtime. Who knows, I could come back to Photo.net in the future and will undoubtedly have lots of content to contribute. Stay tuned. My best to you & yours. I hope life is improvinag for you. Best, Len.

Checking out the latest update (20 March 2016) in his bio will provide the answer. :-) Best, Len.

    Eco Park Detail

Many thanks for taking the time. There is much in nature pleasing to the eye. Sometimes we have to get close & isolate it, sometimes we have to stand back & take it all in. It seldom disappoints. Best, Len.

    NO ROOM FOR ERROR.

I know nothing about aircraft but this shot puzzles me. Must be a very large model with a very powerful engine to attain and maintain that attitude. (appears to be going straight up) This is one shot where 1000 words (perhaps fewer) are needed for explanation. From the shadows I'm guessing the plane is being controlled by the guy on the road. From an all too quick cruise of your portfolio I can see you are a very accomplished photographer. Rather than trying to offer a constructive critique I can only say I prefer to simply enjoy viewing your offerings. Lots of eye candy here. Best, Len. PS. I went on line & discovered this site. Explains a lot. LM.

Thanks for weighing in on this post. Consensus seems to favour the colour version. Who am I to disagree? :-) Best, Len.
  7.
Robert, You'll seldom go wrong following the suggestions made in the Nikon User Manual. Look it up. I have owned a D5100 for the better part of 3 years and have never had any troubles when using a Sandisk Extreme (16 Gb, 45 MB\s). I have recently purchased a 90 MB\s to replace it, now using the original as a backup. Happy Snapping! Best, Len.

Hard, dramatic lighting! Perfect for your subjects. Nice of the light to remain on them long enough for you to react for this capture. Not even a need for hanky panky in post to vignette. Best, Len.

  10. Sharp as a tack and very nicely exposed. My shutter, too, would be clicking had I been there with you. In a perfect world the bird would have been positioned 180 deg. to face the camera but we take what we are presented with. Keeper in any case. Best, Len.

    Ice Skating Pair

My favourite of your current posts requesting critique\comment. Better viewed 'larger'. Your subjects are well placed to show both their synchronized action and their focus on each other. (look at their eyes) Good timing on your part. Arenas are tough places in which to photograph. Usually poor lighting intensity and colour & crappy backgrounds. Lighting would likely be better for the actual performance but for a practice run you've done well. Some EXIF data would likely be appreciated by others attempting to do what you've done here. Happy snapping! Len.

  14.
Kind of hard to get a photo when one's heart is pounding and hands are shaking. :-) Often the photo is less than the story, never truer than in your case. We've all had times when our stories are the superior element. Under the same circumstances I don't think I could stay as calm as you have. Thanks for sharing. Best, Len.

  15. I was thinking that a B&W version would do as well but the splash of green on the island draws the eye & keeps it coming back to the center. Gotta love the high key background. It's subtle visually but impressive in size. This one is a great study in contrasts. Best, Len.

Insurance? Yah, would likely come in handy for those fender benders in the arena parking lot after the game. :-( Do you think these two guys are discussing which pub they'll patronize post game? Thanks for you visit. Best, Len.
  17. Another fine beach composition. Low light really brings out the textures here and your camera position removes any competition from the background. Keeper! Best, Len.

    shut tight DSC04822aw

Nice to finally see some spring colour. Seasonally, you guys are ahead of us by about a month so we have this to look forward to soon. Time to dust off the Nikon & get it working again. :-) Best, Len.

    Jockeying for Position!

I confess to a tight crop of the original. Seemed to me that the whole frame just confuses the eye with a back and forth action. No complaints about the colours but some faster glass (lower ISO means lower noise) would have helped. I enjoyed the photos as much as the game. :-) Best, Len.

Yours is a most valued opinion. Sometimes, post processing of an image is like making pie crust................ work it too much & you end up with an inferior product. :-( Thanks for the return visit. Best, Len.

Initially I felt the colours were too weak so I converted to B&W. Now I'm having second thoughts. You decide. Thanks for your input. Best, Len.

Most will respect the parking attendant whether he\she be a senior, young person, or somewhere in between. Great confidence building experience for the youngster though. Young or old, the boss is the boss. Thanks for your interest and taking the time to comment. Best, Len.
