    Shape Of Water

Kamala, this image and its companion remind me of a program which displayed rogue waves on Lake Erie. If you shot this photo of an ocean wave, although it is well seen and presented, it might be viewed as a bit ordinary.

Wayne, there's an allegory built into your narrative. Certainly, your ability to wander in NYC Chinatown almost unnoticed reveals a level of comfort the residents have when seeing visitors. If the circumstances were reversed, Chinese people visiting an area in which no or just a few Chinese people live, they would draw discomforting looks at the very least. - - - - - What I found to be the most effective element in this image is the level of energy produced by people going about what possibly their ordinary routines. This made me wonder whether I'd ever get back there. Your painting technique produced a great deal of what Sartre described as "facticity." - - My best always, michael

A most intriguing treatment, Pierre. It resulted in what some might describe as a photographic anomaly -curvature in most of the frame with the two young sitting vertically on a low wall. (I had to describe it that way since I wasn't sure which lens you used.) - -My best always, michael

Pierre, I admit that I missed the nature of the face. That explains why you posed the image in "abstract."
  5. Giangiorgio, this remarkable image reminds me of the story of Daedelus and Icarus. However, the flamingos need not fear the possibility of being burned by the sun. Speaking of the sun, the striated layers of color contrast with each other. Yet the silhouetted birds' contrast with the rest of the image is much more dramatic. - - My best always, michael - - - Ciao!
  6. The deer certainly is cute. But what the image truly reveals is its innocence. Also, what I see in the technical sense is both background and foreground as soft with the middle (where the subject is placed) being in clear focus. My only suggestion is to dodge the deer's visible eye to reveals at least a little of its color.

    under the Sun

Wayne, one sad fact . . . NYC Chinatown is rapidly engulfing Little Italy. Nonetheless my last visit to Chinatown yielded a wonderful meal at a dim sum restaurant - The Nom Wah Teahouse. So, first and foremost, thanks for bringing back that memory. Personally, if I could, I'd trash Sun Yet-Sen in favor of Lao Tzu. In any case, the image reveals a paradigm case of energy. - - My best always, michael

Pierre, the title grabbed me. Of course Homo Sapiens came from earlier hominids. But the cage provides a different message; once all of us were slaves in Egypt. As to the chimpanzee, this poor creature exudes sadness. - - My best always, michael
  9. I would visit this world any chance I get. Yet, my concern is that I might stay there. Although I understand that you posed this glorious image in ?Macro," to me it has an abstract look and feel.
  10. I take it, George, that the 2 smiling cartoon characters are supplying the bright atmosphere . Yet, there appears to be a large bird of prey with black feathers that may devour those characters, thus rendering the previously mentioned atmosphere moot. On another note, the colors form a rather pleasant palette, and there also are areas of bright/brighter light. If it was your purpose to make viewers crazy, you succeeded! - - My best always, michael
