  1. What immediately got my attention were the shadows. The less interesting ones are of the hinges. However, the horizontal shadows remind me of the phrase "identity of opposites." This artistically presented image clearly is the result of years of practice and your skill with a camera. My best always, Vincent - -michael
  2. Giangiorgio, Marc said everything I would have said myself. The image is mesmerizingly beautiful. - - My best always, michael - - -Ciao!
  3. Each of you hopefully are familiar with this forum's guidelines. It is especially necessary to list your steps, especially if you are a first-timer. I must confess that, by the time I selected the challenge image, I found it isn't altogether representational.

  6. Since I posted the only b&w version, I'm taking your remark as a compliment. Many thanks.

    Ra, Egyptian God

George, you indeed captured the flavor of ancient Egypt. You took some liberty, though, with Horus since its head in clouds a falcon. I don't mind this, however, since you are entitled to artistic license. While noting two tomb guardians, I noticed what appears as a floating cube, which is pure mystery. This image ranks among your very best, - - My best always, michael
  8. Giangiorgio,, if other comments hadn't noted the water's perfect calm, I would have thought that the image is abstract. What an aesthetically grand photograph. FWIW, SE Florida also has spoonbills, albeit of a different variety. - - My best always, michael - - - Ciao!

To me, the figure of Pancho Villa certainly helps to portray Mexico's history. But aside from that story, I find another, that is more interesting. He is about to have a gun fight with General SantaAnna. Given Pancho's greater experience with gun fights, the General doesn't stand a chance. I just wonder whether Pancho will use his machete to chop of a limb one of the saguaros to make tequila to celebrate his victory, Finally as whole the image is quite atmospheric with the dark sand and sky, a full moon, the cacti, and a lizard. - - My best always, michael

    DoF study III

Marc hit the nail on the head, Vincent. If the dandelion were a bird's torso, I'd say that it portrayed the feathers with spot on contrasting and color. A fine, fine image . . . My best always, michael

Excellent work, PDE! The buildings and the vegetation supply most of the "eye candy;" but the real interest is in the human activity. There are 3 people each on 2-wheeled vehicles as well as pedestrians about to cross the intersection, I wonder whether you thought of converting to b&w. - - My best always, michael

    Swan composition

Vincent, the triangular composition works perfectly. Not only does it highlight the swan's beauty; it also has an ambiguous "story:" it may simply be pruning, or it's is about to go to sleep. The lighting is quite exquisite with the variety of feathers being either dark or bright. Yet the kicker is a small area of dark grey, which is a slight shadow of the upper mandible. The variety of colors are the result of your tactical acumens as well as your artistry. - - My best always, michael
