michaellinder 16,612 Posted September 5, 2022 Giangiorgio, this remarkable image reminds me of the story of Daedelus and Icarus. However, the flamingos need not fear the possibility of being burned by the sun. Speaking of the sun, the striated layers of color contrast with each other. Yet the silhouetted birds' contrast with the rest of the image is much more dramatic. - - My best always, michael - - - Ciao! Link to comment
Giangiorgio Crisponi 466 Posted September 5, 2022 Michael, interesting comparison with the story of Icarus, fortunately, the wings of the flamingos are well attached to the body. at sunset the layers of air filter the colors and create those warm color shades, thank you very much for your appreciated comment, ciao Giangiorgio Link to comment

vincentoiseau 83 Posted September 6, 2022 Hi Giangiorgio, a simple but very effective composition; the two flamingos on the right counterbalance the sun and the other bird. I also like the limited color palette and the transient quality of the light. Kind regards, Vincent Link to comment

gregverena 342 Posted September 6, 2022 Giangiorgio- yes, wonderful shot - I've always wondered- does the sun actually look this in this environment, or is that what the camera and long lens interprets? Beautiful either way. Link to comment
Giangiorgio Crisponi 466 Posted September 7, 2022 Gregory and Verena many thanks for your careful observations, when the sun is so low on the horizon, the various layers of air filter only the warm colors, from yellow to red, more saturated in the lower part. The differences in temperature between the layers make the outline of the sun jagged, accentuated by the use of a long telephoto lens, ciao Giangiorgio Link to comment
