dramatic lighting. the contrast between the warm side lighting and the ominous gray clouds is wonderful. i find the left side of the image weaker than the rest, perhaps a tighter crop of the 5 main pillars would focus the viewers eye??

beautiful in all ways. that morning must of been pure joy as a photographer.

one of the results from a whirlwind trip to northern Yellowstone at
the end of March. i wasn't exactly blessed with great weather, but i
quite like the threatening, surreal feel to this image brought on by
the gloomy weather. all thoughts, comments and suggestions are
greatly appreciated. thanks.

agree fully with Daniel - the sky is what makes this image unique. the long exposure adds to the intrigue. as great as this shot is, it still doesn't do justice to the incredible nature of this place that one experiences standing there in person. no photo can.

great perspective and nicely saturated sky!

a wonderfully layered image. the sky itself has so much depth and complexity, while the land is bathed in beautiful light and the gentle sweep of the shorelines leads the eye deep into the image. excellent!!

a beautifully dynamic, yet fun and wild shot all in one. the lines in the snow are great, leading right up the daunting pinnacle. from there the explosion of blowing snow seems to take the eye to all corners of the image. of all your photos, this perhaps displays your untamed search for stunning images the best.

i spent a cold, windy morning along the Rocky River in Jasper
National Park and was rewarded with a pleasing pre-dawn glow. all
thoughts and comments are greatly appreciated. however, i would be
specifically interested to hear people's thoughts on the sharpness
of the image. i shot this in RAW and did some PS sharpening, but am
curious to know if perhaps more sharpening would be a benefit.
thanks!

hey kurt - i'd copy the opinions of rick and sean re: the extra foreground. but, yeah, you've got a great mix of colors and the lights and warm glow across the horizon are stunning. also, having those rocks to break up the moon beam reflection is great.

i can imagine this being one of those times when it feels great to be a photographer. blessed with a great display of light such as this and a fun and attractive location to work with. i like this image very much. the lines and balance of the image are well organized. my only critique, and it's a small one, i think i would of like to have seen the shadow of the main rock above the bottom of the frame, instead of touching it. don't quite know why, i just think a little bit of light wrapping around in front of the shadow would have locked the eye in a bit more. enough rambling - great shot!!

ahhh, 'tis a fine winters day indeed. love the fact that you managed to keep so much saturation in the sky that close to the sun (i took a similar shot recently, but the hot area around the sun was much larger). the sharpness of the trees is also very appealing. any thoughts on a similar shot taken maybe 20 degrees to the right, putting the sun more off-centre and emphasizing the brilliant blue sky a bit more??

awesome! great light, lines and color. the warmth of the sand and the nicely saturated blues in the sky add a nice feel. considering the relatively simple subject matter of this image, all the above elements are outstanding and provide a sustained feast for the eyes. the best dune shot i've seen in quite some time.

this is indeed a very well photographed location, but a great cloud
display and lull in the wind allowed me the oppoturnity to
capture 'my take' of this classic Canadian Rockies winter scene.
all thoughts and comments are greatly appreciated - thanks!
