taken last weekend during a productive 3hr shoot along a very short stretch
of the Athabasca River in Jasper National Park. all thoughts and comments
are greatly appreciated. thanks for viewing!

a reworked image from last summer. all thoughts and comments are greatly
appreciated. thanks!!

very beautiful!! any other work from Jasper? can you remember if this is upstream or downstream of the falls??

Awesome! beautiful! love the light, the color, the detail.

thanks to all for the comments!
Kenneth - only filter here was a 3-stop graduated neutral density filter. i think ND grads are a landscape photographers best friend. i do use polarizing filters, but in this case i knew i'd be shooting directly into the rising sun where it'd have little impact.
Dean - thanks, and i too wish more had been going on with the sky. as much as i wanted to complain about the complete lack of clouds, i realized that, with this kinda scene ahead of me, that i wasn't really in a position to complain.
thanks again!!

a very still, and very cold morning at Jasper NP's Maligne Lake. because of
the cold, the area of open water had shrunk to just a small opening, limiting
the angles to just a few. of my shots, this is the one that makes me think
fighting the cold was worth it. your thoughts, comments and critiques are
greatly appreciated. thanks!

i agree with a few things: the subtle editting suggestions mentioned already, and the fact this is a great winter scene! i do have one more suggestion to add. there is an unnatural dark area on the snow below the left edge of mt. rundle that needs to be fixed. maybe an errant paintbrush stroke in PS??
again, great shot!!

recently revisited some of my pics from a trip through the Moab area last
November. i had overlooked this one on a couple previous occaisions, but
this time stuck with it and, gotta say, pretty happy with the result. all
thoughts, comments and critiques are greatly appreciated. thanks for
viewing!!

i love this location and i love this shot!! the combo of the wickid color contrast and sharpness in the ice, and the muted colors and feel to the sky is just awesome.

jan - a great shot of an awesome peak! the main thought that comes to mind is that this might be strengthened by a slightly tighter crop around the mountains. the clear blue sky doesn't have much to offer so i think i tighther crop might emphasize the strong points of this image. in your 2 laguna shots you've done this well. in the appended suggestion i've also tweaked the contrast just a bit. just my thoughts. looks like an amazing trip!!

my aunt and uncle own a place literally two minutes from this classic and
idealic Northumberland beach, and i was lucky enough to spend a few days
there last September. this photo was from the morning that provided the
best display of light; all thoughts, comments and critiques are greatly
appreciated. thanks!!

thanks to all for your supportive comments. it really is greatly appreciated!

curious to know what folks think of this one. taken way up on the northeast
coast of England, i like the way the grass swept back into the shot. the
colors weren't very fantastic, so i thought i'd try black & white to focus on the
textures. i'm happy with the feel of the image. what do you think?

pretty awesome chip! love the tunnel effect. i can only imagine the equisite detail in this in its full, original size. great work!!

Aaron - the context here is that i was on a morning tour at this geyser field - the El Tatio geysers - in the high altitude of the Atacama desert - some 13 to 14,000 ft if i remember right. we got up there at the crack of dawn to see the sunrise. this guy was a guide on another tour enjoying his morning mate, trying to keep warm. reminds me a lot about the place - i've got this one frame up on my wall. thanks for the question!
-
Aaron - this is what i guess one might call a partial blend of 2 copies of the same RAW file processed twice - once for the mountain on the left and once for the rest of the image. i'm no PS wizard, but the ND grad made the left mtn way too dark so this was the best way i know of fixing such a problem.

looks a bit colder than when i was there back in september =) great shot! the curves of the snow contrast well with the sharp, symmetrical lines of the mountain. wish i could revisit this area a bit more often. again, great shot!

love it!! the ice crystals are beautiful and the sky color provides a unique feel to the image. all put together with great touch. a fine shot indeed.

the classic scene of monument valley is about 180 degrees from this scene.
it was hard to turn my back on the classic scene, but i liked what i was
seeing in this, 'The Other Direction'. all thoughts, comments and critiques
are greatly appreciated. thanks!!

i got here just in time to set up and catch the last of the days light catch the
famous Mittens of Monument Valley. i rushed to find something usable as
interesting foreground and, with the time i had, this was what i liked. all
thoughts, comments and critiques are greatly appreciated. thanks!!

thanks to you both. piotr - i do like it a bit more vibrant. i've kinda self taught myself photoshop, so would be curious to know which process you used to produce your more vibrant version. curves? saturation? thanks! ...and by the way, this is Lake Louise, not Bow Lake.
