  4. the cadet.... Its a great little enlarger for small spaces. Im sure you will be very happy with it for many years. After all an enlarger is more dependent on how you align it, and the quality of the lens. Limiting factor, smaller negatives, smaller enlagment space on the easel. Making larger prints is possible if you project to the floor. I had a B22, my first love, when I lived home as a youngin. I turned it around to shoot onto the kitchen floor n made some very nice 16x20s from 6x6 negs. Meanwhile, keep an eye out for a bigger brother, if you have the space for it. Not much difference but bigger means you make larger prints and can use larger negatives. When buying used enlargers, expect to do a complete clean out n lube. Most have been stored for many years. Make sure you have all the parts, especially the condensers. negative carriers are nice if they come with it... but you can make your own neg carriers from mat board if the enlarger price is that good. Look up the model you are planing to get before buying so you are familiar with all the parts that are important. Condensers are almost impossible to find and aren't going to be cheap when you do find it. . BTW the price is good too. Spend your money on a good lens you can use on the next enlarger as well. You gotta start somewhere.
  5. Family, kids, friends, neighbors people on teh street, all make great subject to practice on. Some guys I know have dummies or wig heads to play with lighting in the off season. When Im at the museum, I play with the marble statues as if they were models. around n around I go shooting n looking for light n details. Sometimes I get an audience of tourists wondering what's so special about that piece. Just having fun n staying busy is the key.
  6. I can never understand how people keep tons of pictures on their camera memory cards. My camera only takes 8G flash cards... I keep 3 handy in my bag so I dont have to worry about running out of memory or just in case one drops dead in the field. After every shoot I dump everything to my tablet while on site so we can see what we got. When I get home, I dump it again on my computer's HD. Out of habbit, just before a shoot I format the card(s) so Im starting fresh. It just seems such a disorganized mess trying to figure out whats what on a card full of images from previous shoots. Besides leaving so much on a card, is asking for disaster sooner or later. habbits are the way to go after a certain age... also talking to myself is one of my favorite pass times, great company too n he's never wrong.
