Very nice layers of color, shapes and light. I'm so used to seeing color pictures of this beach, it's a refreshing change to see a beautiful black and white shot! Nicely done!

I like this shot. It captures perfectly what I'm guessing that he's thinking: "Piss off with the feckin' camera, will yah?!"..... :-) I enjoy the subtle pleasantry and wit in many of your photos.

Great street shot! Makes me want to wander around there! Nice clarity in the rock and brick textures of the buildings!

Ok, I was out of pocket on business for a couple of days and come back to see the attention this photo created. As per the comments from the exceptionally observant, let me clarify my enhancements in PS: the sun was off to the right and not in my desired view (I wanted to include those cool clouds leftover from hurricane claudette in the shot). So I "burned" some sunshine in behind the entrance structure (using air brush or dodging, brightness adjustments and blurring). Now that I look at it closer, it's a little bit sloppy near the archway and the light should have been carried more to the right. Other color changes included selective burning, saturation and adding more yellow to color balance to warm it up. That's as much as I can recall from my PS session. The fence is not pasted in, it was left where it was -- my DOF could have been better on that too as pointed out. Thanks to all for looking and commenting on this one! I still have much to learn from y'all.
P.S. Look at my photo called "Cedar Fence" to see this same scene taken during the morning in early spring. You'll see this fence from a bit of a different angle and with different light. The structure is actually an elaborate entrance to a ranch community with a road running in between the two lighted arched stone structures.

Dave, if I come to Alaska, will you take me sightseeing? :-) Although Alaska is famous for it's vistas, you seem to have a knack for capturing landscapes beyond the standard postcardy stuff. The angle of this shot adds even more interest to this lovely sunset. Did you slog through some mud for this one?

I have never considered insects to be beautiful. This photo has certainly changed my thinking! Wow... beautiful iridescent greens and blues. Your macro work is amazing, as are your subjects. The architecture and engineering behind these teeny creatures becomes more evident by viewing your work! Congrats on a very cool photo and folder.

Oh my! This is a great shot. I don't live far from Fredericksburg, so I'll have to stop by this place sometime in the spring!! You captured it very well -- the clarity, color and composition are perfect.

Very interesting angle! You probably would not have been able to capture the character of the tree using other angles. Well done!

Cool image! I'm temped to reach in and pop one of those bubbles!!
-
Very dramatic pose! Also, I like the primal feel to this! Awesome!

Tah dah!!! Amazing pooches! Nice humorous shot!

Actually, a Godiva-like nude would have been great here for a more adult fairy tale. :-) Her hair is amazingly long! Cool shot, Allan!

I've attached the original photo so you can see what I started with. I've also attached one of Warhol's works that inspired me. FWIW. Thanks for the comments! I wasn't sure how this was going to be received. :-)

The post production work on this was inspired by Andy Warhol.... :-)

This is a great shot. I like how the monk is gazing over his shoulder... so casually, without worry that he is actually standing on a narrow ledge. I would definitely crop off the top portion that is overexposed. That would make this picture perfect!
-
Nice shot! The soft exposure on the water lightened it up enough to add contrast to the green mossy rocks and trees.

Robert, I'm really enjoying your infrared shots! I like the soft faded colors. The clarity is marvelous and angle at which you've composed this is terrific too! I like how everything converges to one point -- the road, the treeline along the road and the tree line in the distance.
-
Great character shot! Her smile is addicting -- forcing you to smile back in return! I like all the steam and the various pots and containers that surround her. I'd much rather watch her cook, than Emeril.... :-)
-
Nice capture of a rather sweet moment! The lighting and tones work great to soften the mood. The close crop is perfect.

I kept the doorway in there to create some tension... looks like it's too much tension and risks pulling your eyes away from the lights. I am paranoid about creating images that are too symetrical in composition, though. Perhaps I shouldn't have been on this one! Live and learn... Thanks for the comments, everyone!! I really appreciate it!!

Cool idea, Rajesh. You may also have fun using it as an overlay texture ontop of another shot. :-)

I'm glad you snuck away from all those annoying tourists and headed to this little gem of a spot! All of the deep green colors in the grass and on the houses look great with that sky! Did you have to contend with mosquitos at all?

ROTFLANP (Rolling On The Floor Laughing And Nearly Peed) Pretty funny stuff. The horse is goofy enough on his own, but the cows looking on as if they are saying WTF?! Now that makes the shot!
