  1. I looked at video. I have a notch on the thread on both sides of the screw . It appears that it is an assembly of two parts.
  2. Hi, I looked at this video. However , the hex nut on my ballhead looks different. It seems to have a bushing. I am wondering if its not user detachable.
  3. Hi, my version is the plain Arca Swiss ballhead with 1/4 bolt, with no quick release plate. Arca-Swiss Monoball Z1 sp with 1/4"-20 Screw 801101 B&H
  4. Hi, I did not make any modifications to the ballhead. I screwed on the quick release clamp to the ballhead. The height of the screw is less than the depth of the hole in the quick release clamp. The quick release plate remains secure to the body and to the quick release clamp. It is the combination of the three ( body , clamp and plate) that twist on the ballhead, where they come in contact with the ballhead surface. This happens in vertical orientation. thanks and have a nice one. Regards Sanjay
  5. Hi, I have a kirk quick release clamp and had bought an Arca Swiss Z1 sp ballhead with 1/4 inch screw. I fastened the clamp onto the ballhead by tightening with the screw. However , in portrait , there is some play when I use heavy camera like Pentax 67ii , as the clamp is resting on the felt mat on the ballhead. I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks and have a nice one.
  6. Hi, could you please tell me how you attached the clamp to the ballhead? I have a kirk clamp and the same ballhead with just the 1/4 inch screw. I tighten the clamp onto the screw, but it just becomes loose in portrait position with heavy camera. thanks in advance . have a nice one
  7. Hi, thanks for all the useful tips. 1) I mentioned about medium format as the camera is heavier and I was also wondering about the shutter slap for the pentax 67ii 2) why is slow speed film recommended ? 3) I used the time exposure mode, with time exposure switch (not too convenient) 4) how would velvia 50 / velvia 100 be? 5) we did not have aerial fireworks and had a person holding sparkler and moving it. 6) I used f/11 and approximately 7 to 10 seconds exposure On hindsight, cable release feels more convenient. I was not familiar with it and did not use it.
  8. Hi, I am planning to try fireworks photography with medium format - pentax 67ii. I am thinking of using 45mm lens , 90 -180mm lens . Films - have ektar 100 , portra 400 , fuji 400h , portra 800. any suggestions on the films? have arca swiss ball head , manfrotto tripod. shutter cable release is also there. no flash. evening / night would be when I shoot. no flash. mirror lockup needed ? any suggestions
  9. Hi, I have a Pentax 67ii and am having trouble after unloading film. I use fuji films primarily. The fuji films come with a self adhesive strip that I fold the exposed film under and close . With the portra, there seems to be no adhesive strip and after unloading , I used an elastic band to secure the film, after folding the strip under. Am I doing something wrong?
  10. Hi, I stumbled across this posting for cabin 6x7 Slide film projector at bhphotovideo.com . Used Cabin ProCabin 67z Projector with 150mm f/3.5 Lens 601401 Hope its ok to post the link. I bought similar model from bh 2 years earlier , and am posting it for anyone who might be searching for it. Mine was a 110 V, 60 Hz model though the listing and customer support said that it supported 220V, 50 HZ
  11. Gepe is stopping 6x7 slide mount production. Those are probably the last sources for their mounts.

  15. Hi, thanks for the replies. The problem is not with the photos taken. The problem is with viewing the image through the viewfinder. I have to manually focus the image. With the manfrotto ballhead (its taller), the view finder is at a more comfortable angle. In case of the arca swiss ballhead, I have to raise the lens (400 mm) further up. As a result, I need to bend my knees or bend my neck. It feels very uncomfortable, doing it for a long time. My body hurts after 5 to 10 minutes.
  16. thanks a lot. I am having the problem when I try to take photos of the moon. The manfrotto has more height and I do not have the problem with it. The arca swiss being smaller in size, requires me to increase the height of the center column. I am thinking of maybe disposing of the manfrotto ballhead, but wanted to be sure before doing it. I thought raising the center column of the tripod is not a good practice and maybe meant to be avoided
  17. thanks. was thinking of getting rid of one of the ballheads. don, by the way , which quick release plate do you use for Pentax 67ii ?
  18. Hi, I have a manfrotto 490 ballhead ( 26.4 lbs , or 12 kg load capacity). I also have the arca swiss monoball z1sp with 132 pound load capacity. I use 35 mm and recently got pentax 67ii. I have kirk plates. I was wondering if either of above ballheads would be suitable for large format equipment or medium format equipment? thanks and have a nice one. Regards Sanjay
  19. Hi, I use a manfrotto tripod - model 055 xprob with center column. I had a manfrotto 490 ballhead and switched to arca swiss monoball z1 sp. The manfrotto ballhead , is much taller , though having lower load capacity. While shooting photos, I sometimes find the manfrotto tripod to be little short , with the arca swiss ballhead. I am raising the center column of the tripod. Is this a good idea?
  20. thanks. got this response from gepe. glassless slide mounts will curve with the heat. the presentation mount might get hotter sooner due to the black colour of frame. its intended for use with light box or for scanning
  21. thanks. I was looking at article 7032 and article 7028. article 7028 says presentation mount
  22. HI I am looking at slide mounts from gepe. I see some which say slide mounts and some are marked as presentation mounts . The material seems the same , except the regular ones are white and gray while the presentation ones are black. What way does this impact the functionality ? Can both be used for projection in slide projector? thanks in advance
  23. thanks for the reply. I think I will try the star trails. how do I determine the exposure and account for the reciprocity factor? can I do this without tracking mount? I also have canon 35mm eos bodies with wide angle 17-40 lens and longest being 400mm f5.6 and 1.4 teleextender. On medium format, was thinking of Slide film like velvia.
  24. Hi, I am looking for glassless slide mounts for 6x7 format. I prefer the glassless as they are cheaper. Considering the humid weather in my place , glass might end up with fungus. I used the GEPE article 7032 slides glassless slide mounts 54x68mm, but gepe told me that they were about to stop it. After that, I used Article 7028 - black presentation mount 54x68 metal mask. I could not find either on their site and it looks like they may have stopped shipping directly. I have sent an e-mail to them and am awaiting a response. I checked amazon and e-bay and found Hama and matin 6x7 slide mounts. Any idea on either of these?
