  1. Thanks for your reply. Is 6.13 volt too low for 2cr5 battery ? I checked with a digital multimeter.
  2. Thanks for your replies . I was referring to the frame counter and the custom function values and iso value. I am also having bc error with eos 3 . Is 6.13 v too low for 2cr5 battery ?
  3. Hi, I have EOS 3 camera and EOS 30 (elan 7e) film cameras. If I take the batteries out of the cameras and they were having film roll inside, will the information on the last frame shot be lost ? EOS 3 uses 2CR5 batteries and EOS 30 uses CR123A batteries.
  4. Hi, I am getting a bc error while shooting with eos-3 . This is an used camera that I bought several years ago from keh . I thought the problem was with the 2CR5battery and changed it . Will there be a problem if the battery is stored for a long time in the camera without usage or left outside the body for a long time? I get bc 3 error and sometimes it shows low battery . It happened with canon eos 400 mm f5.5 usm lens . I also use the canon ef 1.4 extender. I had similar problem with another lens. I also noticed that I had problem when shooting against bright light or against sunlight. I press the shutter release button, it opens and remains in position , and viewfinder remains dark. The shutter opens, gets stuck and does not return to normal . After switching off the camera , and changing battery , shutter closes but shot is ruined. I had similar situation with long lens too and I tried with different battery and I had same problem shooting against sun. I then switched off camera and then tried by switching from autofocus to manual focus and it worked normally. what could be the problem?
  5. HI, thanks for all the replies. I use a canon elan 7e ( eos 30 ) and eos 3. I do write the frame number on the plastic canister when I switch rolls mid-way ( different lighting conditions - iso change , slide / negative) . I have unfortunately done double exposure , spoiling really good photos - landscape / wildlife over architecture. The roll in question - I think it did not load properly and I got some dust on it and possibly did not load it to avoid scratching the film. Leader does not seem to be out much. thanks all. How are you JDM ? Remember you helping out with my Slide Projector in 2009 or 2010. For all the analog lovers, I have a facebook group called film photography india. Please feel free to join. Been on Photo.net from 2000 and this is one of the best resources on the net. Thanks to all the wonderful people in here. Wish you all an advance merry Christmas
  6. found some on findlab , freestyle photo USA. that was in november and december. I had to wait a while with findlab
  7. Hi, I have a slide roll with leader out (little extended) in a canister with handwritten instructions (my own) saying clean and use. I shot the photos long ago - couple of months ago and am not able to remember the context in which I wrote on the canister and if this for the film. I asked the lab and they said they will cut a few frames and develop to check if its exposed or not. This is velvia 35mm roll. If they cut a few frames , can I still load it into the camera? Is there any other way?
  8. Hi, I have been using the 400 mm f5.6 lens from canon for a long time. I already have a 100 -300 mm lens. I use this with extender ( canon 1.4 ex II ) . I use with EOS 3 film body and get autofocus at center point with the extender combination. Its slow with bodies like canon 550D ( without extender). The lower range of bodies focus slowly with it. I also use canon elan 7e or eos 30. The IS has not been an issue. It is lighter than 100 - 400 mm . I have used it for wildlife and pictures are sharp. The 100-400 had push-pull type zoom.
  9. Hi, there were drivers for nikon scanners under linux. the project was called sane or scanner access now easy. You might want to try with a linux distribution. SANE - Scanner Access Now Easy . Might want to check with the contacts if there is any update.
  10. i purchased a canon eos 3 from keh.com more than 8 years ago. I am recently getting bc error. I got the low battery warning and replaced with another battery and within a short time , had same problem on the same day. This was near the sea. The shutter stopped in between initially. After a few frames , it worked fine. Few days ago , I had the same problem and it started working after few frames. I had changed battery after getting bc. I had same problem with the new battery and after few frames with CB and shutter stopping , it worked fine. The batteries are within expiry period but purchased few years ago sand maybe from same source. Temperature around 26 Celsius.Any suggestions ? Thanks in advance
  11. I use a pair for cleaning my cycling riding glasses ( project rudy rydon scratch resistant glasses). I have filters on all my lenses. Its very rare that I need to clean my lens. Its mostly the filter that I clean. Its the one that I use for the riding glasses that needs cleaning. I use boiled drinking water at room temperature and let a few drops on the filter and wipe it off with the cloth. I blow the dust away with blower brush before the process.
  12. Hi, I have 35mm canon equipment - 2 film bodies and 6 lenses with flash, extension tube, ballhead, tripod. I recently bought pentax 67ii along with 3 lenses . I have lowepro computrekker bag. The challenge that I am facing is that I can carry only one system - 35mm or the medium format. It looks like both will occupy the bags just by themselves. In airtravel , only one bag is permitted in handluggage. How do you guys manage? thanks in advance and have a nice one
  13. Hi, I have the microdear microfiber cleaning cloth. How do I clean it manually? thanks in advance
  14. Thanks for your response. I normally buy from adorama.com and bh . I have been a customer since 2000. I also buy from freestyle photo. They have a wider range of film. My 35mm equipment is from the first two. I got my used stuff from keh.com. I noticed that one of the Polaroid accepts mini film and wanted to know if any other company film could be used for the mini. There's colour and black and white for mini
  15. Hi, my niece recently got a fuji instax mini 8 camera and I would like to buy some film for her. What films do you suggest? I am familiar with only 35mm and medium format film . I am not familiar with what is compatible with this camera. thanks in advance.
  16. Thanks for the reply. The hood on my lens is intact. The cracked hood was mentioned on a popular site , for listing of the same model and I avoided that site, though its well known. I bought this from used section of Indiana , USA store. Its currently called usedphotopro.com and is in Indianapolis. I got most of my other used lens from keh.com. This lens is out of warranty. This lens model was not widely available. I have had very few issues with bhphotovideo, adorama, keh. keh - I had problem with my camera - pentax67ii. They fixed it and I got it back. I stay in India and finding someone to take it back to US for repair and bringing it back is a hassle.
  17. Hi, I had purchased a pentax 67 90mm -180 mm macro lens from what is now called usedphotopro. I generally buy from keh, bh, adorama. I bought from usedphotopro based on recommendations from photo.net . The price was less and the same lens on different site had higher price, but also mentioned that the hood had crack. I am getting decent pictures with it. However, when I turn the lens 180 deg or 360 deg along the vertical axis handheld, there is a slight noise as though there is something loose inside. The noise is fainter than a loose screw. Is this normal with this lens ? The focussing is ok. I have taken a few photos with the Pentax 67ii and photos seem ok.
  18. Hi, thanks for the reply. There is a slight miscommunication here. I am yet to receive the ballhead from the service center. I went for bird photography trip and the ballhead tipped on a rough surface and the panning lock got scratched. This was prior to sending my the ballhead to the service center for attaching the kirk release clamp. When I asked the service center, they offered to do touchup on the housing and the knob. However, they said the touchup would not look similar to the anodised finish . On the knob, they said that changing it might be a better option than to do a touchup, considering the cosmetics. With a functional knob, I am not sure if I should really risk replacing it ?
  19. Hi, I have an arca swiss z1 sp monoball ballhead. I had given to authorised service center for attaching quick release clamp to it. There were some scratches / paint chipped off the panning lock knob. The knob is functioning fine. Does it make sense to replace the knob ? will the replaced knob still have the same smoothness in operation as the originally fitted knob? Thanks in advance.
  20. Thanks for your help. I had couple of kirk release plates , which I use for my cameras and lens - 3 to be specific . I wasn't sure if the integrated clamp ball head model would work . Got a fourth plate recently. Have a canon 400mm f5.6 lens. The bodies are eos 3 , eos elan 7 and pentax 67ii . All film bodies - doubt plates are available. I feel the plastic surface around the nut on arca is too smooth and causes the play. Manfrotto 490 has a rubber mat with checked pattern and that provides friction. It is not completely effective but helps a bit
  21. Hi, precision works informed that I need to apply heat to it before trying to remove it. Their charge to replace seems reasonable - 20 USD + return shipping. I need to check if the warranty will still be valid after modification. Regards Sanjay
  22. precision works replied that loctite is applied on hex nut. How do I remove the nut in this case ?
  23. Kirk confirmed that my older quick release clamp ( knob type from kirk) did come with adapter bushing and it got stuck on the ballhead. I was able to remove the bushing from the ballhead with a pliers. The last time, that I tried to remove with a 11mm socket wrench, I could not loosen the nut. This was with the bushing in place. Do you think that the hex nut might be attached using locktite? Do I need to observe any precautions while trying to remove the hex nut ? I would not want to damage the ballhead .
  24. Hi, thanks for the replies. It might be a screwdriver notch. I am not sure how I can remove it . I spoke with Arca swiss , precision works, kirk. Kirk suggested another quick release plate that should work once the ballhead top is removed. Precision confirmed the clamp , and said it was possible to remove with a 11mm thinwall socket wrench . I was unable to upload the images earlier. I am in India and have to find someone to carry the ballhead for repair.
