1. HI, thanks for the reply. I am not looking at spending too much money. Considering the time exposure feature of Pentax 67ii , I wanted to see if I could take astronomical photos. shooting slides and negatives.
 2. Hi, I have a Pentax 67ii and 45mm , 75mm shift , 90 mm -180 mm lens . I came across the time exposure mode and want to try astrophotography. which of the lenses would be suitable? how do I determine exposure? thanks and have a nice one. Sanjay
 3. Hi, one of my friends is getting rid of a sinar P1 large format camera and asked me if I wanted it. I shoot medium format and 35mm film. He said he has bellows, film holders and 120mm schneider lens . I read a bit about the Sinar P1 4x5 view camera and am still confused. I am not very familiar with large format. I read about a large format in last few day.s Is this a studio camera ? what kind of subjects can it be used for? he says it can be used for architecture, macro photography, portraits, landscapes. I would appreciate any inputs on this. I got my medium format film 6x7camera a year ago and am trying my hand with architecture and macro (flowers, static objects). I shoot nature , wildlife, architecture , landscapes with 35mm. I am also not sure if a 4x5 would be a big difference over 6x7 camera. I have the pentax 67ii. thanks in advance.
 4.
Hi,
I noticed that there are two types of gepe mounts in glassless. One says black presentation mount (article 7028) and another with white and half grey mounts (article 7032)

1) Article 7028 ( https://www.gepe.com/website/index.asp?pageID=245&showProdID=127)

54 x 68 Black Presentation Mount with Metal Mask, 3mm, 10pcs

2) Only the colour seems different . 7032 (https://www.gepe.com/website/index.asp?pageID=244&showProdID=119 ) is currently out of stock. 54 x 68 with Metal-Mask in both halves, 3mm, 10pcs/box

Are they meant for different uses?

I need mounts for storing and projecting my 6x7 colour slides.

I am wondering if anyone has experience with these two types.

thanks in advance,

 5.
Hi, I figured out the responses. I can reopen the mounts with finger nails. The mounting press for this format is no longer manufactured ( gepe confirmed it)

 6.
Hi, I spoke to gepe and they said the mount could be reopened with small knife.
any suggestions?
thanks and have a nice one.
Regards
Sanjay

 7.
Hi, thanks all for the replies. I am buying the slide mounts online from gepe and it ships from Germany. I am based in India. They do have the aluminium inserts. I am buying article 7032.
Shipping and customs duty is bit expensive.
The glass version is more expensive , also I live in a very humid area and the possibility of getting fungus would be very high ( I am close to the sea).
1) My problem is with preventing the slide from shifting inside the mount.
2) Is there a tool to open the mount?

Thanks

 8.
Hi,
I am using 6x7 format and have shot a few slides on it. The only plastic mount that I find on the net is the Gepe variety. Wess seems to be shut down.

I am facing a few challenges :
1) I find it difficult to close the mount and open it. Once I close the mount fully, its difficult to open it (in case I want to scan)
I am just pressing on the mounts with my fingers . Is this the right way or is there a better way / instrument to do this ? These problems do not happen with35mm plastic mounts

2) The slides shift inside the mount and this leaves a gap between the mount and slide leaving an open area where stray light from projector falls on screen.

Is there something that I am missing?

thanks and have a nice one.
Regards
Sanjay

 12.
Hi, I have the pentax 67 90-180mm zoom and am trying my hand at macro. I shot a few slides of leaves and flowers.

I am using the auto tube set of 3 ( all three combined together) from Pentax. I was wondering if using 2 sets of them would give more magnification.

is it practical?

thanks in advance.

 13.
Hi, thanks a lot. The dot on hood was not aligned properly with the dot on the camera.
It was fixed incorrectly when it was sent out from the shop. I am able to fix it and remove it easily, now.

 14.
Hi, I finally got my pentac 67 , 90mm -180 mm zoom lens. The glass looks good . The pentax hood looks a bit blemished and there are a few scratches.

It is attached to the lens in way that lens can be stored. I am unable to figure out how to detach it. I have similar lens hood for my 35mm canon. However, I am still confused.

I would appreciate any help. The hood says Pentax RH BB 95mm

 15.
If I want to clean
1) water stains
2) dark spots
3) finger prints
4) fungus

Note : finger prints and fungus are on some old slides from 70s, 80s that were gifted to me, by my late uncle.

I also have finger prints on few slides from recent time ( These are mostly fuji velvia) and few negatives.

A) I already have pec 12 . Would it help with any of the above?
B) Would Edwal anti static film cleaner be of use?
C) Would a wetting agent help ? I have access to Ilford wetting agent.

Please note that I am getting my film rolls developed at a lab, and I am not doing any home development. The water stains are on a roll that was already developed and it happened much after the rolls were received from lab ( there is high humidity in my place. )
Thanks in advance.

 16.
Thanks for the response.
1) Can the dark spots on negative occur in printing or would they come only during the development process ? The lab (Konica) has a scanner , which is attached to a chemical printer, and print photos on photo paper (RA-4 I think)

2) I have photographic solutions pec 12. how is this and will it help?
3) I searched for edwal and could it find it only on BHPhoto, but it is available only for store pickup. I also checked adorama, freestyle photo and amazon. It's not in stock or has the larger ( 32 oz) option.

Thanks and have a nice one.

 17.
Hi,
I noticed a build up of moisture on 35mm colour negative roll. I have never seen this before and it happened only with one roll. We had very heavy floods in december, and I am not certain if this caused it. It did not affect other rolls.

I gave the roll for printing and noticed long streaks , blotches on prints. When I checked the negative, I noticed that the moisture had spread, dried and left marks - blotches.
I also noticed some dark spots ( opaque) , which come up as white spots (not too tiny) in print. The dark spots are very less in number ( 1 or 2 in a photo), and I am not certain what caused them. They look very dark on negative, almost like burnt.
1) what might have caused the dark spots ? ( I am not certain if they were there before printing, but I think they were not there)

2) how do I clean the moisture marks?

3) will photo flo be of use ? is Ilford's wetting agent of use?

4) do Airlines allow one to carry photo flo in checked in luggage?

thanks and have a nice one.

 18.
chennai : there is klachak.com. There is one more , I cant recall link

 19.
Thanks a lot. I also considered the 165 leaf shutter ( for flash sync speed) f/4 lens. what do you think of it ?

in the context of 35mm lens , will the f number be same or different for this separation.

 20.
Hi, thanks for the response. How good is this lens for portraits?

 21.
Hi, thanks for the response. I had bought the extension tubes earlier and thought of using the 90mm -180mm lens for macro with the tubes.
I had come across the 165 leaf shutter lens too, but decided at the moment, not to buy additional lens.
Can the 90mm- 180mm lens be used for portraits, without extension tubes ? I just mentioned about the extension tubes as I had them . Does it help in anyway ?

 22.
Hmmm, I just saw this link. I am based out of India . Did you reach India or are you yet to reach there? Lots of people have been shooting film here, from a couple of decades and it may not be a problem.

The humidity will be high in coastal places like Chennai (Madras), Bombay ( Mumbai) . The heat part depends on which time of day you go about, and the place. India is not hot all over.
I have a facebook group called film photography India. There are people who shoot medium format film cameras here. You might probably need to wipe moisture off, if caught in rain. It might be bit difficult to get film. would suggest carrying film in handluggage.
There are different themes for shooting - street photography, ancient temples - murals, sculptures , churches , mosques , nature . architecture - indian, indo-sarcenic , french, dutch , portuguese , spanish .

feel free to ask more. you are welcome to join my facebook group too - open to all.

 23.
Hi, I recently ordered the 90mm-180mm pentax 67 lens. I also have the auto extension tube set.
Can this lens be used for portrait?
thanks in advance
