  1. Got the camera late this afternoon, set up and running. Haven't used the FTZ yet, just the 40/2. Almost too easy. I will see if I can get some 200-500 samples posted tomorrow.
  2. Haven't got my Z yet, but my oldest friend says that the FTZ II is an invisible factor in terms of performance and the 200-500 works very well. My Z f should be here tomorrow and I'll find out. Hasn't been much near, but there are Elk I have yet to spot in my area. Note: Nikon is offering a 30 day free trial on the Zfc if that floats your boat.
  3. I knew I had seen an article on the conversion - No, I have not tried it only have 35 mm and digital. http://www.artdecocameras.com/film/35mmwith828/
  4. Purportedly arriving Tuesday, looking forward to hands on.
  5. I doubt they could build that today, a lot of cast iron tech lost.
  6. FTZ II arrived from Nikon today, now counting down on the camera body. Since I'm going to be using the old lenses, was concerned about possibly getting the camera and no adapter. Probably the best packed piece of photo gear I have received in memory. Kudos to Nikon.
  7. May be a while before you get your hands on one, apparently the advance sales are going very well and filling those orders S/B first priority. I would not be likely to see one out here. Had both my wife & best friend egging me on or I might not have done it. I also find the 24-120 to be a very useful range.
  8. I literally don't remember every Nikon lens I have, and the cabinet is full. Results with current and even very old F mount lenses have been very good on the current cameras, latest of which is a D810. We'll see what role the new camera fits. Just learning a new camera is something I pursue at considerable length and much enjoy.
  9. In re: the adapter, my buddy, also a long time Nikon user, has the version 2 and says it is very good. Don't plan to go down the rabbit hole of Z mount lenses. If the adapter isn't as good as described, worst case I'll get one Z mount. I have other interchangeable lens cameras that I use as if they were fixed lens.
  10. Bordeaux Red, Gray second choice if I must to get one when reality sets in. As you might guess, having been with Nikon over half a century, I have a lens or two. The Voigtländer selection seems interesting, have excellent rep, and match the retro look better than Nikon. They are bit dear!
  11. Ordered the Z f and FTZ II this morning. Apparently shortfalls are anticipated based on preorders. We'll just have to see, it is not as if I am lacking cameras. Later!
  12. Strangely enough, my most recent new camera, as opposed to new to me, was the DF I bought 8 years ago, a camera I still use regularly and greatly enjoy. I had looked at the Zfc, but don't need another DX camera. I believe I'll pony up some dollars and get this one. Would prefer it in silver and black, but suspect if / when that comes out, it will be at a premium price. Right now my plan is to order the Z adapter rather than another lens. In re: the grip, a friend uses these https://smallrig.com/SmallRig-L-Shape-Handle-for-Nikon-Zf-4262.html and finds them very good.
  13. Amateur says it all - love of the game, your outcomes and chosen tools. Hopefully, and I think generally progress and pleasure hand in hand.
  14. Well, I have loved and enjoyed photography since I was a boy. Bought my first darkroom from a neighbor kid with proceeds of my paper route. Continued for a very long time. I went Digital a comparatively short number of years ago. Still have all my fine old film cameras and a lot of lenses, which I use on rare occasions, a blast of nostalgia, and reinforcement that old hard learned skills still remain. Of course, my location, way out in rural America gives me limited options for processors. The most telling thing, a nice compact darkroom remains in the box room in moving boxes unused. I have a place for it, a table in a planned location, but digital is just so easy and convenient. I greatly appreciate film, and it probably will always do some when in a nostalgic mood, but the past is what it was, and the future seems increasingly indecipherable, so I believe I'll just hang with the current mix and methods. At some point in time I think most of us come up with our own perfect personal answers.
  15. Folks should respond to their instincts. I don't go to neighborhoods or involve myself in activities which make me feel unsafe. I don't believe there are issues here, but apparently no acceptable proofs are available. Suggest people follow their instincts as I do mine.
  16. Just FYI, Moderating, even opening some of this stuff in order to be fair before banning, I have had no increase in spam. The net has always been an odd place. I recall early on being able to put my son in conversation with a world renowned expert on lizards for a grade school project. A world that no longer exists. Now just like any city street, risks and benefits.
  17. Complaining about things we have been unable to change so far is not helpful, and is discouraging to those of us who spend a lot of time trying to get things working. Part of the solution, or amplifying the problems. A decision to make.
  18. If you could give him a few hints on uploading, it will be appreciated.
  19. Never had a Mac so I can't make a further suggestion. I'm sure someone will help.
  20. Click on your avatar, then images. You may need to right click and reload. Edit: Just checked you have 6 pages of images.
  21. I painted untempered masonite which also comes 4'x8'. Heavier, of course.
  22. Always had good luck with them. The catalogs they send likely cost more than the profit on my purchases.
  23. Give them a call, think you'll be surprised. No guarantee, but they are into doing business.
