  10. Howard. Thank you very much for the compliment. David. It was a lot of fun poking around the rocks with my friend and looking for the shot. Glad that you liked it. Michael C. Thanks. The model really helps. Tomek. Yep. That occurred to me as well but didn't fit the mood very well. Thanks for commenting. Andrew. Thanks. I was a pretty wonderful afternoon for light. Thanks again to everyone for taking the time to comment. All the best. Dana...

  14. Guillermo. Lovely abstract. I think the tonal range is really great and the three diagonals created by the tonal changes on the structure are inspired. Way to see it and compose it. Great work. Dana...

Sergei. I disagree with Serge. I think the composition is interesting. I think it is interesting how the corner divides the background into two asymmetrically sized gray panels. I also like that the model is slightly off center on both axes but not obviously so. However, the thing that really strikes me is the framing of the eye. I don't think the shadow detracts and actually compliments the subtle tonal range in the photograph. Cool. Dana...

Ian. I agree with David. It could have easily been posted as an abstract. A good one. All the best. Dana...

Bjorn. Wow! I think this is a great image. It is dark, literally and figuratively. I think the items on the table provide an interesting juxtaposition and it is interesting how they have more detail than the woman and somehow seem more innocent or happy than the figure. I like the elegance of the gloves and hat contrasted with the more pedestrian setting. Finally, I love the lighting on the woman. I don't think it could be much better. Uber cool and going in my favorites. Dana...
  18. Thanks to everyone for commenting. Donna. I find it a bit strange as well and am glad you think it is cool. I am a bit of a nerd and don't get in the "cool" category very often :-). I like that you describe the light as delicious. That is a wonderful compliment for me. Abstract and real; a perfect description. Fred G. I am glad that you mentioned that you saw it as a potential still life. I hadn't really considered that and like the idea very much. I am always hesitant to put my stuff in fine art because I am not sure about what that category really means. The title was really a pun (probably a bad one). It wasn't a comment on the shape but a comment on "why?". That probably doesn't make a bit of sense but that is what I was thinking. I did try rotating it and agree it takes on a different flavor; "more in your face" is a perfect description. I settled on this because it seemed to have more "gravity" and fit the low key lighting. This is also how I shot it and, although I am not bashful about manipulation, it is pretty satisfying to see it in camera. I am also pleased you commented on the light and am glad that you are seeing the strength in the images. Many of my models are strong (physically and mentally) and independent women and I am really pleased the images bring this across. Trisha. I am pleased the lighting seemed to work well for everyone. I really appreciate the comment on grain because I struggle with that sometimes and the feedback is valuable. David. Neat observation that I hadn't considered. I might have to play around with that a bit. Maurizio. A bravo from my Italian friend is always a thrill. Thank you again to everyone for taking the time to make such thoughtful comments. All the best. Dana...

Thank you to everyone for taking the time to look and comment. Jon. I like the term haunting for this one. I am still working on the process and will continue to explore. Thanks for the encouragement. Raymond. Luscious indeed! I thought this one worked in color and am glad you liked it. Peter. I am happy you found it beautiful. David. Glad you found it wonderful. That means a lot to me. I am not sure proud is the right word (I try not to get to satisfied) but I was pretty darn excited when it emerged from the session. Laura. I am very happy that you have begun commenting on my work. I think your interpretation is what I am after. I don't want to intentionally obscure the person but show them in a different way. To me everything is in motion all the time and I believe that more "static" images are really more abstract than my work with "motion". However, I think most folks would see it the other way round. In other words, you never really see a single image; your brain tricks you into believing that you clearly observe something when in fact you don't. Hopefully this makes sense. Thanks for the encouragement and I am glad that you liked it. Thanks again to everyone and all the best. Dana...
  20. Ricardo. Thank you for looking and commenting. I am very fond of this image as well. As you can see from my portfolio, I tend to shoot a lot of BW but also like how the red works as a structural element in this one. All the best. Dana...

    Arrow of Time

Volker. I thought that this shot was quite peaceful and like the notion of leaving the "human footprint" in it. I agree with the sentiment in your explanation. However, the best thing about this shot for me was that it led me to your portfolio (spectacular!). I will be paying attention in the future. All the best. Dana...
