The figures blend very nicely into the surroundings,  love the contrast in textures and tones also. Excellent, bravo ..

Strange but original scenario for me Dana: like two "asleep mermaid". Bravo to you and to the brave models! Best regards for both!

Dear Dana, It's simultaneously a very impressive and very moving image. The emotion for me relies without any doubt on the gesture of their intertwined hands and forearms. It's of great beauty and depth.

Looking at the shot I tried to imagine what the color version would be, in order to draw the outline of their manes on the rocks, see color of the frizzy water, but in the end I realized that the choice of black and white, is very successful indeed, because it gives integrity both to: water foam and bodies, it unites women with the environment.

Congratulations to the photographer but certainly to the beautiful models as well, due to the fact that it's very difficult without any clothes, to sit on a rock with undulating shapes of the landscape, so must we wave our body, column etc. and blood tends to crowd in the forehead so the decision of shooting must not last long. They do this in a wonderfully natural way :)

What remains after a shipwreck ?, remains of what was somewhere in the sea, somewhere in life, in this case... we have rescued and recovered the most beautiful: true life represented in women.

Gaze of the viewer goes directly to the bodies intertwined. The detail of the hands together, for me is the soul of this shot.

Beautiful, evocative and emotional artwork!

I really like it ! congratulations Dana

Kindest regards, Laura

Seemingly at risk they are above the swirl of the sea. I like this very much Dana and how they 'pop' against the dark rocks. Excellent!

I am a bit late for the party on this one. For me, that is a good thing. It saves me having to think about what I want to say. All I have to say, is take all the positives from the comments above and that's it.

Drew.  Thanks and glad that you liked the shot so much (a !!!! is awesome from you).

Jon.  I appreciate the comment on tone.  I thought that maybe I was a little overboard on the contrast so it was good to get some feedback.

David R.  Thanks for the comment on contrast.  See my comment to John above.  I was a little uncertain and I am glad that it worked.

Pierre. Thanks for the encouragement and compliment.

John.  Thanks.  Seems like my fretting over the contrast worked for most folks.  I appreciate the comment about them blending in their surroundings.  I wanted them to look a bit like drift wood washed up after a flood.

joao.  Thanks, glad you liked it, and I agree totally about the models.  They are both fantastic a willing to work for a shot.

Gianni.  Thanks for the encouragement.

Laura.  I agree with the comment about their hands and arms.  This was the model's intuitive understanding of the situation and my job was to get the moment.  As you know, I usually choose Black and White because it automatically begins to create an abstract of the scene (any scene).  In this case, I wanted a brooding/dark quality and wanted the models to look like drift wood.  I am glad that you liked the choice but it was tempting to make a color version because of the environment and one model has lovely red hair.  Yes, the models rock!!!  They are both lovely people, physically and mentally, and work their asses off to get good images.  This shot is as much theirs as mine.  I like your interpretation of their rescue and that we have recovered the most beautiful, represented by the women.  I didn't see it that way but it is a wonderful way to interpret it.  Yes, the hands are the soul of the shot and the models did this intuitively (as I said above).  I am very glad that you see it this way.  Thanks so much for the thoughtful comment.

Raymond.  Thank you my friend.  I do see them as vulnerable in the situation as well (both in reality and the shot).

David M.  You are never late to my party brother.  Thanks for taking the time and I am glad that you liked it.

Anabela.  Thanks for the encouragement.

All the best to everyone and thanks again.  Dana...

Dana, please forgive me for being late to the party here, but this is really well done. I love the contrast between the rocks and your lovely models. They do look like this is where they ended up after the flood...a true collaboration here. Well done to you all!
