  1. I do not know how you currently process your shots and what kind of PC yo are using , but.. If.. if choosing for FX 40m+ pixels, then also realize that you will need much more storage space and processing power to process and store all thos m-pixelsand tha you may find the free Nikon software not sufficiant anymore. Then realize that, for now, there are no primary tele-lenses available for the Z system, so if you need longer lenses, they will have to sit on a FTZ adapter (300mm +) . Als , for now, if going FX on mirrorless, you will need the expensive XQD /CF-Express memory cards, all your SD cards are not usable on the Z6 Z7 ..
  2. You say you have grips with the D300, then tose grips can bloaded with 8 AA-batteries too. SO if you use an external watertight battry (12 vlts) ( like used for Electic fence wire) , you may lead a wire into the grips and connect to the AA battry insert ...
  3. mm how a bout tripple X, so Nikon Z6 XXX ...:)
  4. Yup, secondairy slot will be for SD cards ... ;) Already at B&H too, ( no specs..) Nikon Z 6 II Mirrorless Digital Camera
  5. srry, it should be the mark II version wich focusses at 0.45 m, and has the rubber focussing ring, the mark III is more like a version of the series E, and more "plasticky..
  6. Agre to that, but if looking for a "Panncake" i guess that the OP wants it a s flat as possible, so 0.5cm then counts, difference is that it just sticks out of the grip on the camera , or is just inside it..
  7. IF you can find one : Nikon 50mm f/1.8 AI-s Pancake-NIKKOR ( MARK III version if you can..) The E-series 50mm is not really a "Pancake Nikkor" ..
  8. I like lenses with an aperture ring better also, because i mostly shoot A-modes , and i seem not to get really used to the command dails for this, the aperture ring just stops at the lowest or highest value, so i know exatctly where i am by just feeling it without taking my eye of the precise subject to check the value all the time , so whenever i can choose between a "G"type lens and one of the lenses with an aperture ring, i choose the latter.
  9. Correct me if i am wrong her..: If i understand the OP's question well, the OP allready has an AF-D 50mm f/1.4, and is questioning wether he should replace it by the AF-S version. I think, comparing and reading all of the above that it is not worth it, and i would keep on using the AF-D version..
  10. Everyone , except mr.Spock...;)
  11. That depends... If you plan to use it for macro utilizing either Bellows or extention rings, you need an aperture ring, otherwise there is no way to close the aperture before shooting...
  12. MM Never noticed any sign of "woblyness" on my 50mm F/1.4 ( no "D" or "S' , this one is from just before the "D" versions..), also no difference in speed or AF noise between portrait and landscape usage..
  13. If you plan to use extention tubes or bellows, then the AF-D version is preferrable , you need an aperture ring, if not then the AF-S is quicker to focus, and more accurate on autofucus
  14. Arree, partially, unless also auto-iso is on...
  15. If you're ok with manual focus, then there is a cheaper alternative : Search on amazon for Viltrox 20mm f/1.8 for Nikon ...

  17. the "Z"lens lineup is still a bit limited, wheras the lenses usable on the D500 spans almost the entire SLR and DSLR nikon universe starting with the AI-series. I would not want to be dependend on ths FTZ adapter, for fast , macro or lon lenses, but that is just me..
  18. Inside the shutter cock/film wind assemplyn, there is a plunge for remote wire release, this can get sticky by years of build-up from sweat dust and other stuff, if that one gets to sticky, it will sometimes stay "down" / get stuck, meaning the shutter will release whenever cocked. So yo could check if that part of your camera needs cleaning, sometimes a bit of dry pressures air (carefull with pressured air, it can bet damp in some low quality cans) will release that plunger, or sometimes a wire release wil also free it..
  19. Got a message from the Fuji addict news ( i also use Fuji..) about an adapter for Nikon F lenses ( D, G, and E) on Fuji X camera's... Will be expensive iguess, but it would be wonderfull ( if i can afford it) to use my Nikon AF lenses on my Fuji-XT20 ... Fringer NF-FX Adapter Engineering Sample Demo - Fuji Addict

    Nikon 50mm F1.2

Hi Jaycoop, welcome on this board :) I have used a copy of this lens on film ( Nikon 801S), on digital D300/s and currently on my D500, and always have had good results, when closed to F/2 - F/4 pinsharp, and wide open up to F/1.8 this lens, when the lightis good ( golden hour, blue hour) it can produce a wonderfull " halo" effect ( do not know if this is the right termonology in English..) arround subjects..
  21. I only have DX, and i am still quite happy with my Nikon AF-S 12-24, although others thing there are better options, which is a matter of opinion i guess. i think the best lens is the one you have available at the time you need it.... Here is what Bjørn Rørslett thinks of it : AFS 12-24 mm f/4 G ED IF DX Nikkor Reviewed. Introduction

  23. Tanks Shun. Good to know if i ever will obtain a "Z" camera with FTZ, that some AF-s lenses are unhealthy to mount on the FTZ ..
