  1. I would not start with a DSLR for which the lense are not usable on future new "Z" acmera's , and if one brand ( Nikon?) cannot sell me a new entry level, i would look for another brand, i guess (canon, Sony, or even Fuji), after that there is a good chance that i would stay with that brand, once having invested a bit more in lenses.. ANd maybe the "consumer - Hobbyist" market in teh U.S.A. is not that bifg in anymore, thet does not necesarily the truth for the remainder of the world..( other brands seem to do pretty well in the "affordable" market segment..)
  2. I do not fully agree, young ppl starting out with interchangable lens systems in the past often started out with lower priced camera's ( i did) because they cannot spend that much money on their first "system camera" but want to upgrade latger on. This has been the success for Nikon as wel as Canon. "Start on a budget and upgrade later on". This path has been closed now , and will result, or is already resulting in-, sales for the "better" camera i think. So by not marketing the lower end consumer system camera, manufactures may be shooting in their own foot and possibly being frustrating their own future markets....
  3. The "ceapest" Z-series by Nikon now seams to be the Zfc, which is for most hobbyist's stiull a pricy camera, especially if also a FTZ-adapter is required. In the recent past Nikon produced the D3xxx and D5xxx for the lower priced consumer market, but not anymore, these series were ( in price level) never replaced by any Zxxx series , so i wonder, is nikon abandoning thie market segment entirely ? For me it looks like it.....

    Nikon's Future

mm bad interpretation by Petapixel of Bloomberg's article : Nikon Looks Beyond Cameras to Reinvent Itself as Tech Supplier - Bloomberg ...
  5. combinations .. (lost in translation... :))
  6. I found that for this kind of komb's a gimbal , or swinghead like the Manfrotto 393 come in verry handy ..
  7. "Donuts are verrry serious bussiness, ask any police officer, they will confirm this! ;)
  8. On my 300mm F4 i like to use a TC instead of tubes, works great too... sadly it is still to cold here for butterflies and the like ..
  9. Also "Infinity" is just a marker of the maximum distance where maybe can be focussed on with the lens in question. In reality "Infinity" cannot be measured, so it cannot be focussed on either ..
  10. Possibly, but the FX version could also be used with the existing 1.4 TC's on camera's using AF, that can focus with F/8.0 (so all recent DSLR's , since it is a F/5.6 lens ,..
  11. the FX AF-S 800MM F/5.6 had its dedicateted 1.25x TC resulting in efectivly 1000mm , i read nothing anywhere about a TC for the Z PF version anywhere, The FX 800mm is faster at F/5.6. though, so possibly there will not be a TC for the Z 800mm ...
  12. "Z-Mount 800mm/f6.3 PF Teaser Videos" ..lol Who needs to be "teased"for a lens costing that amount of money.. ? I'd say : Put it on the market and be done with it, not many people are anle to afford that thing, and less will be willing to spend the money, so a "teaser"is totally nonsense ..
  13. I bougth that lens whit my F801/s ( N8008 in the U.S. i think), have been using it a lot , and still have it and use it on and of on D500 ... so whatever critics may say , it has always been a good "workhorse" for me.. :-)
  14. or just switch it off...no box needed...;)
  15. Mmmm this kind / size of lenses are mainly the daily working tools for pro- photographers cq journalists, ....
  16. And : Not locations where you would find me taking pictures i guess...
  17. Sooo, if in an area wheren one works with iron, one needs to be carefull to keep the lens away from the iron filings and splinters, otherwise they will stick to the lens... ;)
  18. Warnings in the manual for small parts and to not use if you have a pacemaker..?
  19. Prices in Europe will go up probably, since there is no transport trough / over Russia / Ukraine due to Putin's "plans" ..
  20. I currently only a D500, so i do not see why i should get rid of my DX lenses. My D500 is also possibly the last Nikon camera i will will own, so no near future changes in equipment either ..
  21. It would be good if the OP first would answer questions about the lens type and wether it is AI-d , or would show a full picture of the front and the back of the lens. Without this, everye answer is just speculative and not satisfying , i think ..
  22. Yes i did, and the quality depends on the quality and speed of the film, but for newspaper pictures it was often sufficient ( in the 1980's that is).
  23. yes it does... "Spray and pray" woulf be impossibly expensive on film , one shot at a time is sufficient for me...
