I m looking for a medium format system which will be best for wide angle
photography?(not looking for panaromic cameras)
The lens of the MF gear should be equivalent to 21mm in 35mm format.
Any advices?
-
i enlarged 35mm negatives to 50"x74" in an exhibition that i did several months ago. they all looked great. scan them on imacon and print them on lightjet printer. thats all.
-
I am looking for a decent grain film in low light situations? I will mostly use
400ASA in 35mm at f1.4 to f2.8
-
ok i will mostly use a 50mm lens.
-
Which one has the fastest AUTOFOCUS in low light conditions?
You can add MAXXUM 9 vs CANON EOS 1V vs NIKON F6 to comparison?
-
i dont shoot nite time. i shoot fashion backstages with existing light. normally i will be able to shoot with 400asa at f1.4 to f2.8.
i use monilta x-700 with 50mm md f 1.4 lens. its amazing. the only reason i asked this question i need a autofocus lens sometimes since i m missing a lot of shots during the backstages because everything is moving so fast there. so i would like to get a back up body to use its autofocus feature so that i wont miss so much shots.
the other reason is i need a compact body so thats why i was considering elan7ne. i know f100 or eos 3 is better then elan 7ne but to be honest i dont need so much features. all i need is basically point and shoot as fast as i can.
thanks to u all for the feedback.
ps. i will shoot film as much as i can. untill they stop producing film. i tried digital several times and it doesnt look good for my style. it looks so 2 dimensional.
-
i will specificly use 50mm mostly at f1.4 , 28mm and 90mm will be my other lenses and thats it. no zoom or anything like that.
i need a fast lens in these categories but mostly 50mm and it should be sharp and has a nice bokeh at f1.4 most of the time
i will use f1.4 to f2.0 thats it. so i want to know if canon 50mm f1.4 usm or nikon 50mm f1.4d performs better in that range.
and the fast and accurate autofocus at f1.4 important too.

Which one is sharper and has nice bokeh at f1.4?
I am trying to decide on buying Canon Elan 7NE or NIkon F100? I will use it
most of the time at low light places so i need to find out which system is
better ?
-
it looks like it is the most compact 4x5 and you can shoot like point and shoot style.
-
I need something light and easy to shoot handheld.
Which camera would you prefer?
-
I will be getting a fotoman 45ps camera and was wondering what could be the
best lens to start with?
I am looking for a 35mm or 50mm focal lenght (in 35mm format). And it would be
nice if its not slower than f 5.6

well maybe i should have said its ruining film photography.
as we can clearly see there is no investment in scanners, film cameras, films and etc from these big money hungry corporations.
-
what a shame. this boring digital cameras are ruining the photography world.
i always do my scanning by hiring an imacon either in ny or in london. it costs me $5 in ny and 5 pounds in london per scan. its ok for now but i would prefer doing it at home conveniently.
i hope some manufacturer will fill this gap. i believe some people will never give up shooting film. its unreplaceble.
-
then these tools just for people for themselves who do their own printing and scanning.

I do my color correction on my toshiba laptop which has an LCD screen. I am
sure its off and was wondering what is the easiest way to calibrate the monitor
so that when i sent the pics to the contest it wont look ridicilous.
Actually the question is, lets say i got one calibration tool like monaco ez
and calibrate my monitor. Are these softwares are all standard which calibrates
all the monitors equally in colorwise. How will I know if the organisation who
is doing this contest has the same calibrated monitors?

thank you all. i manage to get 1.8mb by decreasing the quality of the jpeg. some of them saved as 9(high) some 10(max) and etc.
-
According to the website callforentry.org when you resize your tiff image to
1920x1920 @72 dpi the file size will be 1.8mb (jpeg)
Some of the pics exceed the 1.8mb size. Some are 2.66mb or so
How can i get to this file size?
To make the pic square i use the canvas size and make the background black in
order to make the rectangle for mat to square.
I have to sumbit some images and the guidelines are asking for this specific
size .

I am thinking about buying a new laptop and was wondering if i should switch to
new apple book rather than getting a sony or toshiba?
Shortly, the question is which system a pro photographer should use in terms of
editing, presenting the portfolio to a client and etc?
thanks and happy new year to all.
-
can be old or new?
I need a very compact AF SLR to carry with me all the time.
Any advice?
-
As far as I know these are the only cameras that have AF and a
rangefinder,CONTAX G2 and KONICA HEXAR RF.
Any other 35mm AUTOFOCUS RANGEFINDERS?
-
are these sizes you mentioned above in one piece ?
-
or what is the biggest size print paper in the market?
From lightjet printer the biggest i get is 200cm x 127cm.(78" x 50")
I would like to make prints bigger than that.
-
thank you very much guys for your advices. i think i will first rent and then if i see a big difference then i will go for 4x5. i always think every frame i shoot as if i will print as big as i can. thats why i would like to try 4x5.
-
I have been using Mamiay RZ67 for a while and I m quite happy with it.
But still I would love to take a shot on 4x5 large format. I was wondering what
is the safest(economical) way to try it out?
Everybody says large format is all about movements and since I never used it, I
dont get that.
My mamiya has no movements but iam pretty ok with that.
All I know is I need a rangefinder to shoot handheld without loosing so much
time. Please advice me some cameras.
Thanks.
