  1. Basic Guidelines: In the strictest sense, nature photography should not include "hand of man elements". Please refrain from images with buildings or human made structures like roads, fences, walls. Pets are not permitted. Captive subjects in zoos, arboretums, or aquariums are permitted, but must be declared, and must focus on the subject, not the captivity. Images with obvious human made elements will likely be deleted from the thread, with an explanation to the photographer. Guidelines are based on PSA rules governing Nature photography which also cover the Nature Forum. Keep your image at/under 1000 pixels on the long axis for in-line viewing. Note that this includes photos hosted off-site at Flicker, Photobucket, your own site, etc. Are you new to this thread? We post one image per week. First time I've ever started a thread, particularly one as prestigious as this - if I've got it wrong, apologies. Unidentified fungus - any experts, please ?
  2. Blissful memories of Winter
  3. I've used SDformatter a few times, with no problems, but always formatted the card afterwards in the camera. Usually used it when the camera owner has pulled the card while it was being written, and has corrupted the data - recovered what I could, sorted the card and been bought a pint (and, on occasion, a bottle of JD !)
  4. A Square Meal. This would also fit in two other threads - Square Format and Drops ! Who says men can't multi-task !
  5. May not change the angle of view, but may make it easier for the OP to see through the viewfinder or use Live View if only fixed screen model.
  6. You have my sympathy - been there, done that. Eventually had to replace HDD. Fortunately only OS and software - data stored on other discs, which were not affected.
  7. Hope this list is of some help, or at least will enable you to narrow down your search somewhat. DSC_3526 - possibly Greenshank DSC_3333 - posssibly a Thick-knee DSC_3337 / DSC_3302 - same species, possibly a wagtail DSC_3270 - shrike of some kind DSC_3101 - maybe a Gallinule DSC_3050 - Rail or Crake of some kind DSC_2981 - Redstart spp DSC_2934 - could be a Scimitar Bill, if they occur in India DSC_2925 - Lesser Whitethroat - pretty sure of this one ! DSC_2922 - maybe Black Redstart (not same as 2981) DSC_2833 - Ferruginous Duck DSC_2732 - Little Grebe (I think !) DSC_2681 - maybe Pink-footed Geese (again, if they occur there) DSC_2576 - Shoveler of some kind DSC_2456 - I can see no reason for this not being a Moorhen This site may also help : Birds of The WORLD - Index Good luck
  8. If you open the images on Flickr, at the base of the screen is an unique image identifier. That is what I am in the process of using.
  9. My approach was a little different - working for (sorry - 'employed by' !) Local Government, I used to sit and read the Collins Bird Guide (UK & Europe), which helped a great deal, until I was made redundant and could devote more time to photography and bird watching. The Pension helps, too !
