  1. Heather: Yep, it is beautiful when the weather cooperates. The circumstances of getting a perfect shot in a place like this are rare, but when it happens, it is worth the wait.

Kim: No bracketing was used for this photograph...just a 0.6 Soft ND Grad filter.

  2. Simple and effective. What I love about this photograph is near constant tonal range except for the drops of water. This makes the drops of water stand out brilliantly from rest of the image.

  3. Excllent observation about the composition and lighting. In fact, the alternative title for this photograh is "Confluence of Circles" due to the various circles you see in the photograph. I am undecided on the final title.

The lighting was all natural (I never use any artificial lighting for any of my landscape photography). The lighting was selected to create the maximum tunnelling effect, but is not quite optimal. So, I will attempt (if I get a chance) another shot at this this year in fall when I give a workshop in Bryce/Zion.

The pool on the right would loose its circular shape had I panned the camera too much to the right. Having said that, in the next shot, I will attempt to place the left cirle closer to the left edge, either by moving the camera or panning the camera to the right without loosing shape of the circular pool.

Finally the shutter speed used was very slow (greater then 1.5 sec). The camera was perfectly still, but the water was moving not only in the pond, but also in the foreground which you cant tell easily. :-))

Thank you for taking time to comment.

  4. My personal favorite size out of a 8MP camera is 16x24. But, I do offer prints upto 20x30. This is absolutely the largest size I print with an 8MP camera. All the prints are interpolated and printed at no less then 240 DPI.

No one yet knows why the rocks move or have seen the rocks move. Prevaling theory is that the wind pushes the rocks...but it is just a theory. It is a facinating place...I would highly recommend a visit.

Thanks for the comments on the photograph.

Nice composition with strong lines in the foreground leading the viewer to the sky and the clouds. The control over highlights in the clouds and textures in the foreground is well done as well.

Thank you all for taking time to comment on this photograph.

This photograph is composed of two different exposures: One for the moon and one for rest of the image. Both exposures were taken within minutes or one another. There was enough twilight remainin to give a deep blue colors in the sky as well as illuminated the white salt textures as the moon was rising over the mountains.

The dark clouds are not a result of polarizer but rather a result of uneven distribution of sunlight across the clouds. In situation like these, some of the clouds will be in shadows while others will brilliantly lit up by sun causing the dark and light regions.

Thank you all for your comments. All your kind words are greatly appreciated. As Carsten, pointed out, getting the exposure right was a challenge for this photograph.

This photo was taken just minutes after the photo called: Finding Neverland.

A classic Vincent shot...Deeply saturated colors, great composition (I agree with Walters comments) and perfect exposure. But, watch out for those blues in the clouds.

Ok...I am ready to come there. Better have the room in the basement ready for me. :-))) The only problem is that once I am there, I may not want to leave. LOL!!

Beautiful lighting and framing on this photograph makes it stand out from the crowd. Saturated colors and symetry on the doors add to the charm of the photograph. Well done!!
