paula grenside 0 Posted February 3, 2006 Jay, this is one of my favorites among yours. Besides, the techinical excellency, there are all the elements to take you in a dreamy journey. The clouds gently curve and point beyond like the sail. Link to comment
davidorea 1 Posted February 4, 2006 Superb composition, Jay. Clouds, colors and light are unique. Good contrast. Regards. Link to comment
Jenifer Selwa Photography 0 Posted February 4, 2006 I LOVE this, Jay! The mast of the sail is pointing to the sky, leading your eye right into the image, and then my eyes go upwards in the direction of the clouds. Magnificent color. Reminds me so much of the cruise we went on last year of the western Caribbean - every night the sunsets were like that. I need to dive into those shots. Thanks for posting!! Link to comment
carsten_ranke 0 Posted February 4, 2006 The composition is really artful, superb how the sail and the sky fit together and the lines point towards the sun. And interesting to see your work on the backlit sail, a difficult task to perform. Most people would overdo the dodging, but this is just perfect, naturally looking like our eyes perceive the scene. Cheers Carsten Link to comment
jay_patel 0 Posted February 5, 2006 Thank you all for your comments. All your kind words are greatly appreciated. As Carsten, pointed out, getting the exposure right was a challenge for this photograph. This photo was taken just minutes after the photo called: Finding Neverland. Link to comment
will king 0 Posted February 5, 2006 Jay, wow. This is great. Near perfect. You have the dramatic sky, the vibriant colors, the sail adds another dynamic. Looks like paradise. The only thing I would mention is the some portion of the clouds look too dark. Is this a result of maybe burning in PS, polarizer, or did it just look that way? Whatever the case may be, this is an instant masterpiece. Link to comment
jay_patel 0 Posted February 5, 2006 The dark clouds are not a result of polarizer but rather a result of uneven distribution of sunlight across the clouds. In situation like these, some of the clouds will be in shadows while others will brilliantly lit up by sun causing the dark and light regions. Link to comment
will king 0 Posted February 5, 2006 Thanks for the explanation Jay. Again, magnificent shot! Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted February 5, 2006 Jay, aside from being a beauty of a sunset, what makes it special is the triangle of the sail corresponding in a way to the triangle form of the clouds. another sunset for sure!the lower part of the sail is pointing directly to the sun... expusure is perfrct.Pnina Link to comment
jay_patel 0 Posted February 6, 2006 Location: Florida Keys. This was an experiment to create an interesting composition for sunset from a sailing ship. Any thoughts and comments? Link to comment
