  1. Maybe lose the attitude? Smart-a$$ newbs not infrequently get instant karma hereabouts. Had you cared to do some research, you'd have seen Ricoh/Pentax is being very tentative about its film camera "road map." There's some obvious blue sky/hot air here but then you asked, right? https://petapixel.com/2022/12/20/pentax-launches-new-35mm-camera-project-after-film-resurgence/
  2. Crapping on so much from great heights for so long is just plain tiresome. You've been owned but won't admit it. Small pond suits you, mate.
  3. Maybe. Seems they'll start with a compact P&S and proceed with SLRs if demand warrants. Maybe. Rising film costs and vanishing processing make this a long shot, IMHO. Pass the shochu!
  4. Gimme a break. This is an old meter and likely a survivor of previous repairs and/or abuse. Never an issue for me with Sekonic products--ever.
  5. Maybe consider your upset as tuition for a short course in avoiding such grief. Get an appropriate signed model release next time. If you sacrifice a friendship due to their unwillingness to accept a legal document, so be it. Be willing to understand that some people just won't take on the world as grown-ups.
  6. Totally dependent on your location. Might be easier to replace it.
  7. Zombie thread, folks. 8 years-old. Move on...
  8. "As far as a film revival, companies are certainly producing more film now than 10 years ago." But exactly how much more? Good luck finding actual time series production figures. Instead there's just this sort of chatter about percentage increases: https://kosmofoto.com/2020/01/eastman-kodaks-still-film-production-more-than-doubled-in-the-last-four-years/ Are the current Fuji film shortages accidental or intentional?
  9. Amuses me that for all the breathless claims of a film "revival," its most reliable confirmation--new/reopened labs--is utterly lacking.
  10. It's really often a matter of sorting the artefact/milieu relationship. Understanding the world--and how it made the photographer who made the images--goes a long way to enhancing enjoyment of a good photo book.
  11. It's also a matter of what survives near you of the old film ecosystem: reasonably-priced film, processing/scanning/printing. That it's collapsed in many places is hardly news. Still, there's mail-order for film material and possibly local/home processing leaving scanning up to you. I did see today that the Film Photography Podcast group is offering Kentmere 120 b&w at $5/roll. Probably necessary to shift to survivalist mode now--get 120 processed wherever and DIY DSLR/flatbed scan negs. I'm looking at my nice Bronica SQ-B, Mamiya RB67 Pro S, and Mamiya 645 Super kits that deserve exercise. My plan for 2023 is to endure processing costs and DSLR scan b&w negs only. 120 color is a lost cause next to digital but I perversely adore scanned 120 b&w. The only active market for MF gear seems to be Japan.Look at their prices. Unless you really need to liquidate, hold your MF kits and try adapting to the(somewhat unfortunate)realities of 2023. Don't throw inthe towel just yet. Good luck!
  12. Still think the little 100/2.8E is the equal of the manual 105/2.5. Cheaper, smaller, lighter and great adapted on my Fuji MILCs. Seems to get dissed lots by non-owners echoing received wisdom.
  13. Another drive-by post asking what to wear today. Seriously?
  14. With respect, it's a 50+ year-old camera that wasn't exactly a top-shelf model. Finding a tech in 2022 capable of a repair isn't easy or cheap. If it's 6x6 you like, you might look into newer gear rather than nursing vintage gear back to health.
  15. To survive, PN needs to regain its long gone dive bar ambiance--friendly, forgiving, entertaining, informative, generous--with lots of tables and long hours. Been around here since 1997 in various guises and regret what it's become. The haunting issue seems to be relevance in late 2022.
  16. Lame retro fashion statement. Seriously? Fuji got this right almost a decade ago...
  17. Tons of noir lighting tutorials online...
  18. Jeesh, another slow day on PN??? Post dates from August...
  19. I'd be reluctant to trust a nearly 50 year-old selenium meter. Working meters aren't always accurate meters, especially this type, this old. The Sekonic 308 is a great little incident meter. Have one and never had accuracy worries. The 500-600-700 series Sekonic spot/incident meters are also worth a look.
  20. So many young people are shooting it today, that they are getting desperate to get more rolls for their hobby. And yet if that multitude of film shooters truly existed, Kodak's present response is especially odd. Suffice it to say production isn't ramping up because Kodak is obviously aware that demand some time ago entered residual market territory.
  21. Have a look sometime at "Believing is Seeing" by Errol Morris who was onto this a decade ago.
