  1. From the article. It's a five-year contract with Alaris which means they apparently committed to five years. That's good for us users. I wish we could learn the terms of the deal between Kodak and Alaris. "Eastman Kodak will continue to make photographic film as long as there is demand, the film producer’s executive chairman said in a call to shareholders this week. Eastman Kodak’s CEO Jim Continenza made the pledge during the Q2 2023 earnings call on Wednesday (9 August). “We recently renewed our supply agreement for film with our long-term customer, Kodak Alaris in a deal that will run through 2028,” he said. “We are committed to manufacturing film as long as there is demand from the filmmakers and photographers worldwide."
  2. Well, it's from the roof of my hotel.
  3. I was just thinking that could it be that if you photo is larger than what's accepted by Photo.net, then those won't be accepted?
  4. I just use the URL link for the page provided by the internet service at the top of the page.
  5. West side of Manhattan from my cabin on a cruise ship docked on the Hudson River in NYC. That's the Intrepid carrier at the bottom.
  6. I think you're too far away and needed a longer telephoto.
  7. I find that verticals bend too much at 24mm. Better with 28mm. Maybe it's my lens. Bending is important especially if your shoot in cities with lots of up and down buildings. Have you compared that aspect?
  8. Although not necessarily related to camera insurance, years ago I had a homeowner's insurance for the apartment I lived in in NYC. When my car was stolen, I put in a claim under it for clothes that had been in the trunk of my car, just a few hundred dollars worth after the deductible. About a year late, my car was stolen again with a similar claim. Then the insurance industry (all companies) blackballed me for three years from getting homeowner's insurance because I had two claims. I don't know if things are similar today. But I wouldn't put in a claim unless there was a more substantial loss. I would just eat it. Car insurance is similar when they raise your rates when you get into an accident.
  9. The thing with color, is it's hard to see a difference if you're only looking at one picture.
  10. The problem with flash at a ballgame, is the distance is too far to light the players. So, you need the ambient light. In fact, the ambient will provide most of the light required. For closeup shots, the shutter speed becomes important. You want a higher speed to darken the ambient light so the flash provides most of the light and you won;t get a double exposure. Old film SLRs had this problem where the flash sync speed couldn't be faster than 1/60th second. Then cameras came out with faster flash shutter sync speeds like 1/125th. I'm not sure what the highest speeds are available on DSLRs?
  11. My 5 year old Samsung Galaxy S7 cellphone won't accept Chase bank's new app because it requires the latest Samsung operating system that cannot operate in my 5 year old cellphone. So it's not only parts but software we have to worry about.
  12. Nice shots. What does the sign say in English in the last shot?
  13. So was I staying on topic. I was showing that the entire computer industry and related fields including cameras work to obsolete software and hardware to force the public to buy new equipment and upgrade software so they can increase their profits.
  14. I wasn't just referring to camera manufacturers, necessarily. I was referring to the computer industry in general. The problem I had was Chase bank's new app couldn't be installed in my 5-year-old Samsung Galaxy S7 cellphone. It requires the latest Samung Android update and my phone can't install it. So I could not access my banking account and do deposits from my cellphone. Fortunately, I have a later model Samsung Tablet. I can load the latest Chase app and do my banking from there at home. But it's inconvenient as I don't have my Tablet with me most of the time but always have my cellphone. So I have to bank from home, or spend hundreds to replace a perfectly good cellphone. I'm sure many of us have similar problems. In this case a bank changes it;s program and Samsung benefits because it forces people to upgrade their cellphones so Samsung can sell more equipment. Photographers with new camera need software upgrades as you described. Nikon scanners won't work with new operating systems. The problem in the computer industry is immense and fabulously expensive for consumers. I'm just complaining. Surely, I don't lknow the answer to this, if there is one. In the car business you can always get spare parts to make your ancient car run. Although even there, software built-in to autos by the manufacturers try to block independent service repair shops. It raises the costs for everyone.
  15. Manufacturers love when software is updated by other manufacturers. It forces their customers to update their equipment and software as well and they can plead not guilty while receiving the benefits of the change.. Chase Bank upgraded their software app so it doesn't work on my 5-year-old Samsung cell phone which cannot upgrade to the new Samsung operating system to handle the new Chase app. I have to use my newer Samsung netbook to use the check deposit app. So I:m being forced to upgrade the old Samsung cell phone even though it otherwise works fine. It's an incestuous relationship that's been going on since Microsoft and others started to play these games when microprocessors were invented.
  16. At your pleasure. Central NJ 1847 public school bathrooms.
  17. I think some sites give you a few minutes to edit typos before tagging the post as edited. I think that's a good policy because I agree with the OP that gives old farts like me time to correct my typing. How does this work here on photo.net?
  18. I think Flickr allows photos up to 200mb each. You can always post the link here to see it there.
  19. Shooting color gives you an option for the final image of choosing color or BW.
  20. This is an interesting topic. I'm right in the process now of going through all my old pictures both black and white and color, to come up with the ones that I can put in the blurb photo book to reflect my work. It's a thought as to whether I should use all black white or all color or mixture. I'm still going to decide when I curate the pictures after I assemble them. Anyone with suggestions on how you decided and handled this would be appreciated.
