  1. Just basic cmyk curves for shadows/highlights in Photoshop plus adding little yellow in midtones, bit of saturation in lab curves, sharpening.
  2. Few portraits I have made just yesterday with EOS 1DsIII and EF 50 f/2.5
  3. I mainly shoot portraits for modelling agencies and when my background is 5 meters behind the model at f5.6 is as much out of focus as I want. When shooting on the streets of big city - background often is even blurred. In my private opinion portraits with completely blurred backgrounds are simply boring as hell. Thats why really small 85 would be great for me.
  4. Basic cmyk curves, additional red channel in rgb to darken blues, lab curves for contrast and saturation.
  5. Portraits I made this week with EOS6D and ef80/1.8 ef50/2.5

  7. Yes, maybe it is oversharpen, actually it doesn't display as nice here in the browser as in my photoshop screen.
  8. Getting best of your V-lux in PS curves. It is a nice classic composition btw.

    On the Road

Thanks for photo of the week, I have just seen it!
  13. Try Samy's Camera at 431 S. Fairfax Ave.
  14. I would like Canon to produce 85/2.8 USM small and light short telephoto. I shoot with my 85/1.8 at f5,6 - f11 very often so I find no use in large and heavy 1.4 lenses. Also I think that f2.8 gives nice bokeh too.
  15. Just average CMYK curves procedure plus making the lights blue in RGB curves and saturating in lab curves.
  16. EOS 6D, EF28/1.8 3 images from location scouting in LA.
  17. 50/1.8 Zuiko silvernose is a wisecontrast lens, I love to use it too!
  18. I love photographing fruits, especially in bed. 6D 85/1.8
  19. This is a typical photo for lab b curve exaggeration and RGB channels tweaking ;)
  20. Tim, your negative looks fine. In my opinion, if you really want to shoot film, forget about cheap scanning in amateur labs. You can get better results shooting digital and PS process it for the film look. Instead get a proper scanner like used epson v700/800 with good software and scan yourself. Test report flatbed-film-scanner Epson Perfection V800 Photo with transparency unit: experiences, image quality, scanning Or shoot negative, let the good printer print it for you (but this is so expensive in Paris!) and scan/copy-with-your-DSLR the print... That is what I always dreamt of but the 30/40 print costs around 100 euro...
  21. Tim, the lab scan is made in auto mode, in your 645 shot you have more of overexposed sky area, so the scanner program was trying to compensate it by underexposing the rest of the image (face). I think good used flatbed epson would be better option for you... or shooting slide and using external lightmeter... then if you use scanning service they have a reference for scanning...
  22. The scan is very poor, the best idea is scanning yourself. Or brightening up poor scans...
  23. 1Ds mark III, EF 28/1.8 Morning sun in California.
