  1. I remember Canon transition to AF lenses. A moment after the MF lenses were worth next to nothing. I wouldn’t buy any „old system” eos lenses unless the price is really low. I think now is the best time to sell old lenses and buy the new system (or switch to digital medium format?).
  2. In Photoshop press W for quick selection tool. Use Select Subject button for an automatic selection, use Select and Mask to refine your selection... Press ctrl + J to have a selected subject on the new layer. Remove Background layer by clicking it and pressing backspace. Save as .png file to have a transparent background. Sometimes Select Subject alone is enough for a precise selection..
  3. I played with a gradient map for color and contrast, an inverted channel for highlights correction.
  4. The super easy method is to choose the brightest channel, copy it to the new layer in soft light mode, invert it to negative. Copy the background layer on top of it and use lighten or darken or normal mode to decrease shadows, highlights or both. Additionaly you can blur that negative with gaussian blur to get more detail. Creating an action makes it very fast. Also using Apply Channel from Image menu allows for the same procedure.
