1.
Thanks David for the encouragement! I love the light in your first shot, and is that your reflectin in the second one? It's an intriguing image. I'll throw up a forth image from my shoot for something else I wouldn't normally do. The editing was done in a program called Analog Projects which has a whole bunch of film look presets.

 2.
Hi all, last week I did something I've never done before - I tried doing a portrait session with my son as the model. For the first shot I took a leaf out of Sanford's book used a b&w art filter.

 3.
I was photographing something else when this gentleman caught my attention - perhaps it was his contemplative gaze that drew my attention, but it was also the light was falling on him that made me really want to capture what I saw.

 4.
The box office has a fabulous neon sign...

 5.
Great shots Sanford and Greg! I'm curious about the words in your shot though Greg - at first I assumed they were reflected in the water the way the other thing is (sorry not sure what it is either lol) but then I see they are not. Curiouser and curiouser!

Anyway - onto my images for this week. They were taken at an huge old electrical supply building which has since been turned into an art gallery and several small theatres. What is terrific about this place is that they kept as much of the original brick work as possible, particularly the outside façades. Street or wall art is encouraged, as you can see from my first post.

 6.
I have a vague memory of someone suggesting that we could have discussions about images posted in the No Words forum but obviously in a different forum, like Casual Photo conversations. I think maybe there was one or two attempts but then it disappeared. Anyone else remember that idea?

Another thing - why is there an assumption that any discussion would degenerate into nasty or snarky comments? The Off Topic forum was shut down (sadly) because of this 'issue' and I don't really think it was necessary. We are not children after all, people can have different opinions about things, and even get a bit robust in their statements, but I never understood why (and I have read all the stuff about it being shut down) it was necessary. But it no use crying over split milk, it's gone. So moving on, perhaps if we stop expecting snarkiness, and rather, expect a good discussion, it would better all round. Sometimes it can become a self-fulling prophesy. If you expect it to get nasty, it usually will.

 7.
Saw this recently and couldn't resist. I'm so lucky where I live, I can watch the cycle of nature writ small every day :)

 8.
Flower buds after some rain...

 9.
Nice work everyone! This week just a couple of shots from my garden.

 10.
The spiders are out in force at the moment - I found this little one and its web nestled in the gap between two large leaves. It's the same type as the one I posted two weeks ago, but a bit of a better perspective.

 11.
Lastly, a shot of the giant cranes from another part of the wharf.

 12.
A lot of other unions and groups have joined the picket line - here is a shot of some of the flags from the various supporting groups.

 13.
David, I really like those shots, especially number 2. Not sure if anyone outside Oz knows this, but recently 100 wharf workers were suddenly made redundant. To add insult to injury, they were informed via email and text messages at midnight! So a permanent job one day, and redundant the next. Apparently the sacked workers are to be replaced with automated technology. Since the messages were sent, there has been a 24 hour picket line outside the entrance to the wharf, effectively shutting down all work. A friend and I went to visit the picket line and show solidarity. While I was there I took the opportunity to grab a few shots. The first shot is of the various picket line members gathering to hear a speech.

 14.
Thanks John - I was only able to confirm that there are two spiders in Oz that actually live or run (in the case of one very fast spider) on the ground, but nothing about the fact that their webs are also on the ground (although that is an assumption one could make I guess). If I see one again I'll try and have a closer look :)

 15.
It's winter here in Oz, which means the sunlight takes a little longer to cover the yard. I was taking a stroll with my camera when I spotted a patch of grass, just barely lit by the sun. It caught my eye because of the way it was glinting. On closer examination it looked like a spider web, covered in dew drops, but on the ground! I have only seen this once before, but I have been unable to track down which spider created it. Has anyone else seen this phenomenon?

 16.
Fair enough - hopefully you will get some repsonses now the issue is a little clearer :)

 17.
Oops, meant to add that I really like the portrait too Louis. I've never done any myself, but will be having a go within the next few weeks with my musician son. Finger's crossed!

 18.
In another part of the main hall (up stairs at the back to be precise) I found the Mermaid's Bar.
