  1. In exposure = M ( manual) or "P"mode (Program Mode) you can choose "B U L B) , this will give yo long shutter time exposure , if you have set this, the top display will mention "B U L B" . So if you use manual times("Mör "P"mode ) , then check the top display , and adjust accordingly by either switching to "A" mode or choosing a shorter exposure time. ANother possibility is that at some point in time you have choosen the "Mirror Up or Mup mode by deprsisng the Fn or choosing the exposure Mup mode by depressing the exposure mode knob and turning the wheel to "Mup" . if that is the case return this mode to "Normal"( check you manual if yo cannot find this), this mode is to reduce vibrations by mirror movement for Macro exposures..
  2. To my knowledge the pick-up spool needs to provide some resistance to keep tension on the film, until you do depress the rewind lock, otherwise the film wil not stay flat and in exact position, so it is better not to turn the pickup spool back umnles the rewind lock is depressed, it may even cause some damage if you do..
  3. I think it is good to also mention a target/purpose for which you want to use the lens when comparing.. A macro lens like the AF-D 60mm is designed for use at shorter distances while a zoom lens like the mentioned 28-105 AF-D is designed for use at farther away subject ( and holiday snapshots..). This makes for a very different image profile depending on how far the subject is away...
  4. Or.. alternatively ... something "All in one" Nikon P950 or P1000 compact camera instead of a lens ? ( 24-3000mm zoom, digital zoon up to 6000 mm for the P1000..) At around the same price as a 24-120 zoom lens...
  5. Do not know about your budget and where you live, but around here prices for used D4 and D750 are not to far away from a used price for a D780 atm, which would be (in my personal view) more advantageous, since it's relatively new and a step up from de D750 ....
  6. If interested in one of the Z-series, be it Z6, Z6II or any other one, why not just rent one for a weekend, with a FZC adpter of course or so, and judge for yourself?
  7. Well, i do not understand that "Reputation"thing in my profile either, but found that if you change your screen name, it seems to get "reset", so it seems connected to your screen name somehow too.. 😃
  8. Please, do not confuse LED's (Light Emitting Diodes) with Photo Sensitive Diodes they are designed to be each others complements, the former are producing light and the latter in general are detecting light ... LED's can detect light also, but in general light with a shorter wavelength not with a longer wavelength than what they emit, but this is very un-precise so in general they are not used for this... (i.e. a red LED will detect light emitted by a yellow LED, a green LED would detect blue light and to some green light, but not to yellow or red)
  9. Just to be lazy.. GPD is used for many different things, hopefully here is ment Gallium Photo Diode, but it coed be also lots of other things...😃 ( Gene & Protein in Disease for example..)
  10. Oh, good, i'm getting a bit older too, so this forum keeps up with age 😁😆
  11. This is not about the thread in the Nikon forum, this is about the FrontPage of Photo.net. the moment you surf towards Phot.net you now get a front page showing nudes, which is not a good idea for the groups mentioned in my previous answer :
  12. Another suggestion : - In the Nikon Forum, there is a weekly thread on Wednesdays where participants can post 1-3 photo's, this thread has a rule not to post "inappropriate images like "swimsuit" pictures because this site is visited all over the world, or maybe during work at office, and also by "youngsters" and alsopeople of different religion. i do agree to this rule , if somebody wants to see "human form" i think he has to explicitly do so by switching to the forum intended for this. But now, with the new front page and also the sidebar on the right of the screen, all recent uploads are shown, including explicit nude images. I think it would be a good idea not to show those images at the front page and side-bar of th site, but in the nude and erotics forum only so that anyone has the freedom to see or not to see those images
  13. OK, thanks Vlad for this reply, this is seemingly a different "defect"than the one i had (and which never returned) on my D500.
  14. Indeed, and there is the trap.. I used to have both a Nikon D300 and a D300s , the D300 accepts both type ! and type II cards, where as the D300S just accepts type !, Nikon changed this because in the D300 the type 1 ( which are thinner, only 3.3mm) did not alligne properly in the slot which also accepts the type II ( which are 5 mm thick), causing damage to the pins to often. The adapter SD to CF i got from amazon was in between, i.e. around 4 mm, and never aligned correctly in the D300 slot. My D300s was save for this because it would not fit in the card slot at all being designed for the 3.3mm cards only
  15. I would not advice to use an SD -CF adapter, i fel in this trap with my former D300 too, and it wrecked my CF slot in the camera because it is just a tad thicker and fits bad into the slot in the camera, it got several pins bend and i had to send the camera in for repairs, which is expensive to say the least..
  16. Question : Did yo also try switching on, and off the bluetooth, send to smart device, external connection for Location device (i.e. all external radio transmitter/receiver connections) ? I have had a bit of trouble with that because the camera kept trying to connect with an external smart-device to download all pictures to, switching on and od all those remedied that ..
  17. When i put it into "Google Translate" to translate it into Dutch it becomes "DSLR en ondersteunde filmcamera's" When i translate that back into English it becomes "DSLR and supported film cameras" SO i guess "Assisted"i s the same as "Supported" .. ...
  18. Mmmm there is also a forum title "Mirrorless Digital Cameras " , but that one does not include the Nikon brand ...
  19. Anyway, it says "DSLR" so i guess it is not for "mirror-less" ? ? 🙄😳
  20. Depending on the used CDS and Silicon cells the sensitivity peak and spectrum width can differ, classic CDS cells typically have a small bandwidth between around 500 to 600 nm peaking between 540 and 560 nm , whereas silicium ( photo detectors) have a wider spectral range from 400 to 1100 nm peaking mostly around 800nm ( some special applications als around 525 nm), , so a lot depends on the specific photo detectors used.. some links on the subject : CdS Photo Resistors - PGM Series (tme.eu) Silicon Photodetectors - Marktech Optoelectronics
  21. The linked page does not exist anymore, or the link is not correct, with the latest update of the website last year this link does not work anymore..
  22. " https://www.photo.net/nikon-camera-forum/00W7km " Wanted to check the guidelines, but this page seems to have disappeared, ..
  23. Agree if it is about just 1 focus point, it becomes much more complicated when you have , let's say, 56, where the user can choose and switch between them instantly, and the camera needs to know to "move" forward or backward by , sometimes, millimeters ..
  24. in most modern AF lenses there are sensors which will tell the camera the position/orientation of the lens af- rotation, so that the camera "knows"in which direction adjustment is needed to move lens-groups forward or backward, so you could say that these are also AF-sensors. excerpt from the blog from LensRentals : ( Lens Rentals | Blog ) " Each lens contains chips that provide feedback to the camera, telling it exactly what position the focusing element is in and how far it moves for a given input to the lens motor. This must agree completely, so that the lens actually moves exactly where the camera told it to move, and so the camera knows exactly what position it’s in. "
