  1. Looks made to be photographed. I wish that the texture or detail of the building were more apparent. I also like the coloring/toning, but it seems to call attention to itself. What does the building look like at dawn or dusk or in black and white. Still, this photo tells a story of a once great building left to rot. Kudos.
  2. Taken with a disposable camera in January 2005. Return to Brazil

(Salvador, Amazon, Pantanaal, Iggasuu Falls, Rio) in January 2008

with a Nikon D70s and 20 students. Comments and advice are welcome.

    Thanks for looking.

  3. Looks like an interesting attempt to capture local artistry. However, the glare makes it hard to see what seem to be intriguing images and the wood block in the center bottom disrupts the shot. Perhaps a straight on shot with the rows running straight across and a polarizer filter to reduce the glare would work? On the other hand, standing at the end and shooting down the row might also be a nice way for our eyes to take in this scene. I hope you can take more shots!
  4. You have a great eye for color. Could you do me a favor and put more information about who these deities are? Your photos depict a world that seems quite different to me, especially these statues, so a little more info would be nice. Thanks.
  5. First, congratulations on making the client happy. Second, yes I see what you mean about this being a style popular in the recent past (70's?), but it was popular because it pleased people. So go ahead and mix old school with new school to creat your own school. I like this shot too, the model looks really excited about showing viewers what he is holding; whatever it is.

OK. I love the greenery on the right side of the photo, mountain in the background, and blue water serving as a stage, but wish the ship were either closer in the foreground or further on the left for balance, instead of dead center. Of course, it is your photo and that you like it is all that matters. I really like the colors that you captured in this shot. Makes me want to visit.

She looks very happy. I also like the black and white as well as the patterns in her hat. Her pony tail hanging straight down forms an interesting triangle with her right arm. Not sure that I like being able to see into her mouth so much, but overall an attractive shot.

I love the lines and curves in this shot. I also love trains, having spent too much money on model trains. This is another wonderful shot: pleasing, sharp, and simple. I especially like how the word Alaska can be seen on the side of the locomotive. It gives the scene a specific sense of place. Do you have a landscape version of this shot?

I love the shapes in the shot. No it is not original, but it is one of the best done shots of a mountain range that I have ever seen. I also like how the light ranges from the dark lower right corner to the light white clouds in the upper left. With the touch of white snow on the mountains echoing the clouds in the sky. I also like how the courseness of the mountains contrast with the softness of the sky.
  6. Awesome shot. The poppy field is intrinsically interesting, but the white bird adds a nice bit of contrast. However, I wish there was more separation between the bird and the red poppy over his tail. (Hope I correctly identified the flower.) Also the bird is a little too centered. I like the DoF though.
