HMS Earnshaw is a big part of Queenstown's tourist scene - it powers

its way across the lake every day showing the beautiful landscape

around Queenstown to visitors from around the world.

OK. I love the greenery on the right side of the photo, mountain in the background, and blue water serving as a stage, but wish the ship were either closer in the foreground or further on the left for balance, instead of dead center. Of course, it is your photo and that you like it is all that matters. I really like the colors that you captured in this shot. Makes me want to visit.

Thanks for your comments, Jason. I agree it would have been better if the ship was closer. I did crop this shot - too much sky and lake. I was shooting with a Canon Power Shot A80 and one of the problems I had with this was not enough zoom. I now have a better camera with stronger zoom. Cheers, Lynne

Hello again, Lynne!

I understand Jason`s thoughts about this and partly agree. But on the other hand, this is so refreshingly original as it is. I love the scenery and the way how the trees follow the mountain line. The fading cloud on the right side of the image and the small hint of another, on the left side, are joyful. As it is, it is very peaceful and beautiful capture. The boat/ship is just a bonus. BTW, it is exactly on the meeting point with those lines coming down the side of the mountain. I like this just this way.

Nice shot, good colours in the water and mountain, good angle of shot, however I feel the boat is too centred, I am no expert. Cheers

After looking over your beautiful portfolio, this image caught my eye. I love the colors, composition, and the boat just as it is-part of the triangular section on the left. It is not always easy to capture this great color with this DOF and with a zoom lens. Great shot, Lynne
