Imaginative composing; lot of tension in diagonals . . .

I would love to see other brackets of this shot althought considering the stressful nature of the pose, I imagine there were not many. Superb work!

Excellent work; this photograph has many painterly qualities!

Thanks Nayan, I appreciate the comment.

Comments welcomed.

Always in the right place Ransford . . . great justaposition!

Now this is complete. It has a voice all it's own; no birds making bird sounds (as we tend to associate) just the air, light and ambient conditions. I do, however, think the bush could be moved to the left so as not to become too centralized and indirectly manifest itself as the focal point of the composition (see above). The focal point is a Gestalt. The sun and lining of the clouds are balanced by the space below dynamically and asymmetrically. Well done!

The vertical version of this works for me better Yuri; the birds add another dialoge almost incongruent to the ambient environment already complete without them.

Did you wash the window Ransford? I should hire you, good job!

CS3 should be out in September 2006 Ransford; Thanks for the comment.

Marvelous juxtaposition, lighting and soft blur Ransford; you are still searching; nice discovery.

Whats up Ransford? Hadn't heared from you in a while. I like the juxtaposition of the vase with the flower and colourful cloth on the table but the window is dirty and detracts from the composition; actually, I would have washed at least that portion of the window that shows in the composition (assuming it could be reached). Then with a clean window, the green plants outside and ambient lighting would likely enhance the setting. Regards . . . and good luck with the above critique.

Love the composition although the lens appears to cause the succession of cliffs to look flat. Good work.

Thanks Doug, this is a Photoshop blend of a still-life arrangement I gave to my mother for mother's day about eight or nine years ago. I am pleased that it attracts attention.

Iva, this is a wonderful capture and I have passed it over many times wanting to say to you that you signature detracts from the scene. (see above)

Sorry Iva, I didn't know you had made this comment; Thanks very much. Tim

This is an a good composition with sharpness, colour and contrast, and perfect exposure. The horizon and distant cruise ship not only balance the foreground figure asymmetrically but the scale we intuit between the distant ship and the musician renders a kind of allegorical feeling to the scene (perhaps he was on the ship?). Above all, the white garment and stylish white hat, reflected blue light on the ocean from the sky, sun spots and shadows on the sand; mood and ambient lighting of this late afternoon scene together augment this capture very nicely. So what equipment did you use? Tim

Nice definition in the clouds although they are superficially related to the water which causes the entire composition to look very shallow. The reflection of the clouds on the water is a mere mirror image (sky flipped upside down) that defies the laws of atmospheric and linear perspective. The clouds nontheless are what hold this composition together (be that as it may). The horizon you tried to create between the water and clouds looks contrived (very much so). But there is a certain charm about the elements in this composition although the linear depth of the water reminds me of the top of a fish tank. The gulls and what looks like cattails help creat the mood (and this is evident given the comments) but the clouds are way tooooo low on the right also. You could save your efforts by rendering the water with more depth and raising the clouds (which sounds like a mountain of changes). Good luck.
Out of respect for your vision and your efforts, I will not rate this composition.

Excellent colour; would like to have seen more detail in hair; (of course lens choice comes into play) many good photographic qualities nonetheless. Good job!

I passed this house one afternoon and did an immediate uturn and went back
to get the play of sunlight and shadows interfaced between the large pruned
branches of the tree and the front facade of the house; comments welcomed.

Real calm Francisca, very nice. On another note, what lens(es) did you use on your portraits? they are simply stunning.

Excellent capture and composition; framing not so complementary;
Part of another project as well.

Although you don't say what glass you are using with your work, all the elements balance nicely, especially the contrast or tension between the fixed look of the cat's eyes and the coy stare of the model. Other important directional forces are the model's lower legs and feet pointing in the opposite direction to the vacant portion of the composition helping to counter balance the weight of the model and cat.
For me the real subject of this composition are the textures of the sweater, hat, arm of the love seat, throw pillows, cat, and so on; a little too much of which is washed out. Of the hundreds of photographs displayed in your portfolio, this one could stand in a class all it's own. Good work nonetheless.
