    Right Tern

Here is another Caspian Tern. Hopefully this one is a little brighter than the last one; sorry about that. This one is a little softer; the shutter speed was only 2000th rather than 8000th.

    Something To Sing About!

You really got a nice tight shot of this Anna's Hummingbird. Unusual to get an open beak such as you have. Nice detail and a terrific background. Well done!

    Kestrel and crows

Very interesting behavioral shot here. There is a lot going on but you have a lot of interesting shapes, wonderful pastel colors, and fascinating action. This picture tells a story; which can be seen on the face of the Kestrel. In my neighborhood, we have a lot of bald eagles and the crows do the same thing. And like the Kestrel, the bald Eagles basically ignore the crows.

    One good Tern deserves

This is a Caspian Tern. They are migratory and are probably on their way south. They make amazing dives at high speed into the water when they fish. Not quite as fast as an Osprey but close. They do have some nice color.
  6. I am amazed at the detail you were able to bring out on this at F5.6. Beautifully composed with a terrific background.
  7. Very nicely done and tack sharp. If there was a way to bring out some of the detail in the shadows on the bee, it would be even better.

    Widgeon's in flight

These widgeon's fly extremely fast in formation. I had tried taking pictures of them with my D 750 but that has the fastest shutter speed of 1/4000 and they were always blurred. I finally took this image with my D 800 E at 1/8000 of a second and it is quite sharp. This was taken on a partly cloudy evening where the background was in the clouds and the birds were catching the late afternoon sun.

    Spotted Sandpiper

Catching a bird at the shoreline is nice and it is always best to be right down at the same level as the bird that this is not always possible. In this case, there was a very steep embankment. I tried to do my best with depth of field but the background here is a little distracting due to the rippling of the water. The light however was quite nice as this was taken in the late afternoon.

    Osprey in-flight

I believe it is important to give the birds some space in the frame. There are times when a tight crop is a good idea but in general birds need freedom to fly around the frame. This is a compositional decision. It would be nice if the Osprey came a little closer and there are times when it does but not recently. This is a beautiful bird. Hopefully, if the weather cooperates, there will be more opportunities.

    2 Gulls

These are two Herring Gulls in close formation. I've been practicing my birds in flight techniques and these are both pretty sharp. I like that one is above the clouds and one below the cloud boundary.

    Spread Hummingbirded?

Spread Eagled? Spread Hummingbirded? The English language can have some strange colloquialisms... Although this was shot with my Sigma telephoto at a distance of 2.5 meters, this male Anna's approached me for a few seconds at a distance of 0.5 meters and stared me in the face, much like this image. I thought about doing a selfie with my phone but could not react quickly enough.

    Tongue exercises

Here is another different background, dried golden grasses in the early morning. This one is a little soft but I post it anyway because I like the curves of the tongues and body. Catching this behavior is luck as it doesn't happen often in flight.

    Anna's with Maple

I wish I could convince these Hummingbirds to fly in front of my maple tree more often as I am enjoying the background. At least it is a change from the evergreens. In the early morning, this tree appears to be on fire.
  15. Amazing behavioral image!!! Is this common in Sardegna? The color and caliber of light are wonderful plus the diagonals really make the image work. Very nice!

    We Have Lift-off!

This is really hard to do and you did a good job.  The reflection is very cool!

    Male Anna's

I hope the background isn't too busy. I think I've done a good job of separating the Hummingbird from the background. This is a male's Anna's who has a brilliant gorglet. Sometimes I think the pictures of just the Hummingbird with the background is boring but a lot of people seem to like them.
