Anna's with Maple Background

Almost all of my background said the green. There is a maple tree about 70 m from my home that began turning golden about three weeks ago. Early fall? Well, this tree always does this. So I moved my camera positioned to take advantage of it and caught this Anna's Hummingbird early in the morning to catch the golden light reflecting off the leaves of this beautiful maple.

Anna's with Weed

This flower is a lot more attractive than the feeder but the feeder is a lot more rewarding than the flower.
3. I like this one the best of the two because of the relative position of the Egret in flight. It just seems more balanced due to the diagonal position of the two birds in the frame.
4. This is very similar to the first composite I posted. Different positions. This one shows the gorgelet much better.

Web Browser

The spider lives on the web outside my bedroom window. I've been trying to take pictures of it for quite some time but it is rather difficult as the web is always moving in the wind. This means getting it in focus is very difficult. It is a lot more difficult to focus on the spider with a macro lens than it is to focus on birds with a telephoto. Quite a challenge! But I like the way this one turned out.
6.
I've been shooting with the Sigma 150 to 600 contemporary which weighs about 4 1/2 pounds. Almost all of the images of birds on the photo.net site that I have posted in the last month were taken with that lens. For the most part is extremely sharp except wide open at F6 .3 at 600 mm. If you shooting at F7 .1 or greater, you won't notice much difference in sharpness above 550 mm. It is extremely easy to handhold at 600 mm. The VR is very good. I use mine with a Nikon D750. Because the lens goes from F 4.5 to 6.3, one needs to be sure that they can shoot at mid range iso without noise issues. I don't seem to have any issues with my D 750. A nice aspect of this lens is the ability to change the firmware and customize it to your camera. I picked up mine for under $1000 and it easily comes close to 95% the quality of a $10,000 600 mm prime.

I like the sharpness on the head and the slight softness elsewhere, This is not easy to do. The slightly desaturated look works well here. Nice job.
8. Fascinating layered composite. I like the color and subject matter. Well thought out.

Fog

A heat wave arrives tomorrow for the next 3-4 days so I am thinking cool thoughts. This was taken last January from my yard.

Would a Duck?

This is a Wood Duck in a pond near my home. The camoflage is amazing. Even the reflection of the duck is camoflaged.

Spotted Towhee

This one is really centered and I prefer off centered composition. But there is not much one can do with it.

Goldfinch on Clematis

I submitted this previously but forgot to request a rating so it went unnoticed. Is an image like this with too much color /colorful objects too distracting? I realize there is more than one focus competing for interest. Perhaps I answered my own question?

Glad to see you DSC00115aw

Beautiful! Very nice color and form with superb detail. It looks like a flickering flame.

lotus

Very nice composition. The flower placement is perfect. The foreground in perfect focus and the out of focus background really make this work well.

Seed Pod

Not a flower anymore so how to classify? We don't have a close up category. This is a 15 image stack processed in Zerene Stacker. Radu, Gregory, Verena, and others; do you use image stacking software in your photography?
