This was taken near San Antonio di Santadi which is about an hours
drive northwest of Cagliari near the west coast lagoons of Sardinia.
It is in a very isolated area however we stayed at an agriturismo
directly across the road from the lagoon. This was taken in the
afternoon setting sun.
I just got back from a month in Italy of which 2 weeks was in Sardinia. While there, I was able to spend a wonderful day in Cagliari with fellow Photo.net photographer Giangiorgio Crisponi. He took me around the lagoons of Cagliari and loaned me his incredible Sigma 300-800 mm telephoto. The lagoons are an impressive treasure trove of avian wildlife. He is quite lucky to have this sanctuary so close to his home. In the evening, Giangiorgio and his family (including his cousin, fellow Photo.net photographer Alberto Loi) treated my wife and I to a fabulous meal and amiable Sardinian hospitality. Wow!!! Our 2 weeks in Sardinia was most memorable and it was really nice to have the Crisponi family start us off with such a fine experience.
