What camera(s) are you using this weekend?
laurencecochrane replied to Mike Gammill's topic in Classic Manual Film Cameras
The Poroflex finder is a bit pants I have three lenses for my C33 a 65 mm, 105 mm, and a 135 mm. Mostly she supports the 65 mm I do like wide angle. I do feel I want a later black 55 mm lens too but those are a little spendy for me (on disability) Tho I coud sell some of my other cameras far too many of em. I will be keeping the red C33. she is pretty unique. -

On the subject of my red Mamiya C33. This camera in red fine lizard skin pattern trim. This is ORIGINAL Mamiya display. NOT RECOVERED. All Mamiya coloured cameras used the same fine Lizard skin pattern material tho most comonly seen on Mamiyaa sixes of the same era.. A coloured C33 IS RARE tho I did see a later C330 for sale on ebay in blue again fine lizard pattern material tho that particular camera was beat stupid. Mine is near mint only a few LIGHT sratches on winder handle. Easy fix. Even the Gold lizard Mamiyas are in this exact same fine Lizard material and nobody can say those do not exist. Recovered C series cameras are about but those are usually done in a plain leather NEVER FINE LIZARD.As a display camera mine was not exactly right C33 specification, the viewing hood is C3 type this has no functional detriment only cosmetic.. Also the focus screen was also C3 with no exposure compensation markings. again only slightly affects operation. Focusing screen has been replaced by me with the correct exposure compensation marked C33 screen making her FULLY FUNCTIONAL -

Thank you. Carrying her around is a bit akin to wearing a REALLY LOUD SHIRT. She does get attention. -
Do'nt dissagree but a digital SLR image can check all three in an actual permantly not momentarily eyesight captured image. Exposure lighting and composition
-
Funny I never mentioned NOT TO USE A LIGHT METER. Poloroid is mostly studio use anyway. Not just for exposure but checking lighting and composition. Digital SLR does all this FAR BETTER THAN ANY GARBAGE POLAROID.
-
No need for Polaroid these days a digital SLR ( even an agey one ) does a far better job.

The base plate screws directly to the top of the lamp stand To angle downward simple as a very small (CHEAP) tripod ball joint. NOT SO DIFFICULT ! My small radio trigger can easlily hang by its PC wire NO BIGGIE. I usually wrap the PC extension round the lamp stand / boom no tape or ties. -

That is ONE f stop at full power..Obviously flashes must be the same full power output otherwise comparisons are bullshit. or are you comparing apples with oranges ? The Metz has six auto settings any one of which will be much shorter duration than that quoted, in real usage. -

Did I mention flash duration ? NO I DID'NT Granted crux of the thread..Modern flashes scunner me, far to fiddley hard to read grey on grey LCD's..Not to mention the so called PROS who use them commonly on the hot shoe IDIOTS ! The Metz does what I need. The Metz you dial in, thats it Simples. Granted outdated and bulky. But so am I -

I use one too even on DSLRS. So uncomplicateded compared to MINISCULE LCD's and tiny push buttons. Great SIMPLE flashgun with 6 auto settings.manual and reduced power settings too. -

What are your picks for the most beautiful SLRs?
laurencecochrane replied to JDMvW's topic in Classic Manual Film Cameras
Feel exactly the same about my Canon F1 New,.RB67 and C33's -
Leave alone. Live with it.
-
A digital camera DSLR in manual, even an older one will do a better job over any Polaroid. Polaroid complety obsolete no longer needed.

Some of us had no choice but learn on film. Too many clowns taking hundreds of CRAP SHOTS on digital then reworking in Photoshop the like. This is not photography but a keyboard skill. Film means you have to get it right FIRST TIME.You cannot afford to waste film.

I would buy a parts lens with bad glass and change the shutter mech.. Not for the first time. A locked up slow speed escapement exploded on me once, a £40 parts lens sorted that. The faulty escapment lens was free with a REALLY good (but dirt cheap) rare camera anyway Camera shown was less money than a black one needing work.
