    Grandpa at Wentz Farm

In all honesty this is jsut bad by any method of evaluation. first off is that gawdawful 'shadowing of the picture. Second is the figures contrast co;or style doesn't match the background....etc etc etc. ow I am wondering why I bothered to write this. But maybe you are new, and it is best to break bad habits early...especially in photography. Suggestion: concentrate on your camera work and forget the silly photoshopping.

    Fish in Heaven

I think Salvador (Dali) would approve of that. ;)

    100 DSC_6564 fix

Just like good outside people shots, if you have the main subject with the sun behind you must use some fill to finish the shot in style.

    as darkness falls

There's a reason that most tales of horror begin in the twilight, especially vampire tales. The blue light of twilight makes the skin look corpse like. I am not a fan of such, but that is just me, others will differ.

    Sunset from my deck

I'd bet a pretty penny that shot would have been extraordinary taken from the land end of that pier and eliminating those pilings(?) and folded umbrella.
  7. I am presuming this is a double exposure that was then replicated twice more in Photoshop. If so, or not, the execution is great. Well done.

    Neat concept. well executed.

    Twins

Nicely framed/cropped. Great expressions. Cute subjects, and technically very good. So why am I having trouble liking this? Probably because bluish cast skin invokes images of dead people.
  10. Absolutely beautiful. The highlights on her hair are perfection!

    Bleeding Shiners

Oh please, tell us no animals were harmed in making this shot! Bleeding Shiners! lol Seriously, nice, nice shot.

    Hummingbird

Nice capture Marvin. But I think it could be cropped a bit, from either side...my choice would be from the right about to that down curving leaf. That would set the bird on the right third and leave him looking space to the left.

    That Evening Light

First off, I would hang this on my wall! But as Thomas pointed out a teensy bit of cropping could be done. My suggestion would be to crop out the tree on the left. Remove all that protrudes up into the sky. On the right crop out that first lower peak right to the point where it intersects with the adjoing mountain. I think those changes would improve balance somewhat....if it needs it at all.

    Gulden Leeuw - view larger

The blueish cast just kills this shot for me. I know that ship and its colors, and lines are beautiful in even bad lighting.

    Elk in Redwoods NP

Oh, if he were just not so dead-centered...give him some space to look at and you'd have a truly fine shot. (not so bad as it stands though! )
  16. Thoughts on compositon, Yes. This needs to have the right side cropped upto or very near the tree next to the fallen log. Those trees on the right add nothing. By cropping you would have a natural eye leader down to the horizontal fallen bits. well worth the effort though. Just placing your hand over that section gives you a really nice shot.

    hottie

I'm with Michael on this. The cropping needs to be fixed.

    Untitled

Subject is dead center, and for me it just doesn't work. Maybe a few feet one way or the other would have yielded a better shot?

This one is very nice, Well done.

    DSC_0581

That bright red spot lower center is probably a dirt speck on your sensor. Also I think this is a shot that a graduated neutral filter would do justice to. It would darken the sky. Nice composition and the lower half is really nice.

    2014-08-03_00240.JPG

Maria, I like this much better than the previous ones that had the greenish cast. Question? Are these behind a glass window of some kind/ Because there seems to be reflections from one.

    Headed for Glory

Certainly nothing to critique about this photo...compliment yes, critique no. ;) Fantastic subject, and a unique capture. Well done. I am so dam envious of the pilot/owner!

    Tricolored Heron

Birds (nature) is very tricky in harsh light. Those dark shadows crossing the bird are a real problem. Also i think a polarizer would go a long way towards improving this shot.

    Subway

Like the composition. But there seems to be to much neutral gray in the photo. Raise the contrast a bit and see if that helps.

    Prophecy Creek Barn

It seems to me that the fisheye curvature is fighting with the bright red of the barn for the viewers attention. I wonder if lowering the view (this would lessen the curve affect of the fisheye) would balance it out better, yet still retain the effect in the sky and clouds.
