  1. I just downloaded the ios app and started a 1 week free trial but RF’s film isn’t available.
  2. and that will change rapidly. i, hope, that google et al will soon make the 35 mm ff sensor and a 1.4 lens redundant. but that’s a whole new can of worms (in terms of aesthetics) edit: well, actually, it isn’t as almost all of the world’s best photos were shot with apertures less than f/2
  3. Phil, perfectly put. Cellphone technology is changing rapidly and the OP should become familiar with the ergonomics of them as, to me, that is one area I struggle with.
  4. Fred, Oscar Wilde would’ve appreciated that.
  5. Happy Phriday everyone. Here’s my offering for the week. I’m still experimenting with the sq format.
  6. Al, lighten up. Cartoons have been proved to improve the quality of life unlike your depressing, cliched, crap (only kidding :-) )
  7. This is just another sensational article from the cash strapped, eu loving, clinton worshipping guardian. Read the following and work out how the sub came up with the title of the article Today, what entranced Joel Meyerowitz about the street is all but dead. “Nobody’s looking at each other. Everybody’s glued to their phones.” But street photography still exists? “It’s thriving but not in the way I used to do it. The best street photographers now show humans dwarfed by ad billboards. The street has lost its savour.”
  8. i didn’t. i said it had a 28mm sq sensor meaning 28mm squared as I don’t know how to write “to the power of 2” on the internet :-)
  9. Fred, this is a gear & science site for photographers, there isn’t a well recognised artist among us. And the science, and discussions thereof, are as beautiful as the images and will prevail whereas the images won’t.
  10. Wouldn’t you be better off doing your post processing in a nicely lit studio?
  11. And vice versa. The mathematics (science) of a subject is as meaningful & beautiful as the subject itself.
  12. Just as one can’t be taught to be a Gauss, Newton or Euler, one can still be taught basic maths
  13. Elite schools, Eton & Harrow, Harvard & Yale, for example, might disagree (ow they might have to drop their fees) :)
  14. they were. i’ve just looked at this site Compare digital camera sensor sizes: 1″-Type, 4/3, APS-C, full frame 35mm and it suggests the oly has a crop factor of 6 whereas the sony has a crop factor of 2.7 which suggest they are similar (12 vs 10.8) so i’ll keep my oly. but that sony is so cute.
  15. A bit OT, but, If I have a sensor A that is 4 times the area of sensor B, will camera A have 4 times the light gathering power of camera B or twice the power? I want to compare the Oly tg-5 sensor size ~ 28mm sq with Rx0 sensor ~ 117 mm sq at f/2 and f/4 respectively. the oly is12mp, the sony 15mp. ignore differences due to other factors edit: both are ~ 24mm (35mm equiv) focal lengths at their widest
