"Selfie with substance" is a great description. I think this one is interesting for many reasons, the folks in the background provide interest as supporting characters. I especially love that the the children's faces are obscured by bedding and the parasol; it's like a news report that doesn't disclose names/faces of minors. Amy
  3. The ball or balloon(?) in suspension is absolutely wonderful. The fact that it is bright blue in a mostly neutral ground just draws the eye right to it. As mentioned, a great example of the decisive moment. Amy

Those are some pretty cool clouds. The trees provide a nice frame. Amy
  5. I'm enjoying the multiple reflections in this shot. Amy

I really like the inclusion of the small rectangle on the left, it completes the visual triangle. Even the shadow points to it. Nice geometry. Amy
  7. Your capture of motion and the soft light is beautiful. Amy

Michael, it bears repeating that you truly are a master with interesting color combinations. This one keeps me looking. Amy
  9. I like this one very much. "Tranquility with a new perspective."
  10. Mark, I hadn't thought of the implied motion that you pointed out. Thanks for mentioning it. Marco, I liked the way the cloud was placed too. Thank you for your impression. You really can't beat camera in the phone for ease of use and convenience, Lannie. One day I'm gonna pick up my "real" cameras again, but the Siren's song of the iPhone will most likely win most of the time. Amy

Mark, thanks for sharing your thoughts. They make me think of the idea put forth that all of our artistic endeavors are autobiographical :-/ Lannie, there actually was a small piece of the skin of one grape left and I spot-healed it out. If I'd thought you'd been looking for it I might have reconsidered. Amy

    Beware

The prominent "BEWARE", is cool, especially given your backstory. Good one, Lannie. Amy

I'm really liking the legs up top. They kind of sneak up on you, but I think definitely add some interest to the composition. Amy

"Street Bandit" is an especially apt description to this one. As usual, we see evidence of your wonderfully observant eye. Amy
  20. Too bad about the phone, but the image really works. Beautiful tones and while there are tell-tale signs of the year (the tattoo and print on the child's suit), the theme is timeless and quite lovely. Amy
  21. A tropical drink named after the tree, I'm pretty sure, Jack... Lana, the high contrast really works here. Amy

Michael: I love photographic mysteries, I'm so glad you saw one here. Lannie: The quality of the light is what made me want to shoot this one. Wolfgang, of course I'm pleased that you like this one and also find some mystery here. And Mark...you nailed it! That's exactly what it is: a person waiting for someone shopping @ the BI-Lo. I had to go back and look at my own shot to see if the BI-Lo logo was anywhere to be found, and I can't see it. (cue the Twilight Zone music here). I, too, liked the damaged hood and the feet. As a bit of backstory, I saw the scene and asked permission of the woman to let me shoot. My heart always pounds a bit when I try to do any street photography that actually involves humans. So the interaction was a small victory for me; and I'm always torn between asking permission and just taking the shot. Her position was slightly different that when I first noticed her, but I was still pretty happy with it. Thanks to all of you for your input. Amy

She is like an apparition wandering through the real world. Very mysterious, indeed. Love it. Amy
