    Red and green

I like the softly curved concrete (?). That is another juxtaposition. Those curves look like the material should be soft, yet, the brittle break at the bottom tells us otherwise. The brignt orange in the corner pulls the eye and invites us to scan the whole frame. Amy
  2. The yellow stripes are the perfect addition to this composition. To me they are vaguely reminiscent of those day calendars that have the little perforated corners that one can pull off the mark the day. That, in turn, reminds me of the marking of time, which ties in to the dusky light here. Maybe it's a stretch, but that's where my mind went. I think your framing is brilliant. Amy

    Promenade

Jack, this is perfectly composed. Did they pose for you? There are many levels of interest here. Very nice. Amy

    Relative Antiquity

The larger view is truly much better. I like the photo anyway, but larger, the webs turn into sparkly needlework. Amy
  7. That trellis/gate just begs you to come stand under it, in the liminal space. Amy

    Grey Day

Thanks all for looking. It's just one of those scenes that begged me to point my camera. Clearly, your guess is as good as mine. Amy

    Red Bicycle

To me, this one is all about the right angles and the geometry; the bike is nice as a place to rest the eye, but the repeating rectangles and lines get me every time. Amy
  10. It took me a couple of viewings, but I finally saw it: the repeat of the garage windows and the gutter. Cool. Amy
  11. Lex, I think this is a successful double exposure. The image of the boy in the foreground looks as if he's up to his chin in water, as in perhaps a baptism. The back ground skateboarding more innocent and childlike. A young man on the cusp of growing into the adult world of city life and police cars. I like it. Amy

    Un Descanso

The feet out of the shoes are the element that tells this story to me. He's not just a little bit tired, he's walked some miles and is taking a BREAK. I haven't explored the official definition of documentary photography, but it seems to me that this is it. Amy
  13. What a wonderfully wacky mix, though I guess someone didn't like it. (That shattered glass puts this one on a new level). Amy

    Drying Towels

I'm liking the textural match between the wall and the towels. Another of those subtle details that you are so good at finding. Amy
  15. Thanks for the vote of confidence. I'm guessing the market would be rather small, but I do appreciate your kind words. Amy

    Bird and Halo

Thanks for looking, Lannie. I'm still thinking about what it means myself. Amy

    Adagio

Thank you for the lovely critique, Fred. I've been taking a break for a bit- I'm sorry it took me so long to acknowledge. I am always interested in your take. Amy

    Abstract 22

Thank you, Ray. I hope Sontag was right :-)
  20. Lannie, I like this version purely because of the reflected light and tones in the windows of that grey house. That detail informs us of twilight more than anything else in the shot to my eye. It's small and easily overlooked, but critical I think. The BW version just doesn't capture that aspect. Amy

    Untitled

I think of these as your "stained glass" series; either that or painted silk. It's beauty for beauty's sake. Very nice. Amy
  22. I agree with the others. The soft light is fantastic. Amy
  23. I like the repeat of one light/one dark eye. It even occurs a bit in the painting as well if you stretch your imagination a bit. It's those subtleties that really make a piece work. Amy

    Bird and Halo

Thanks, Drew and Mark. Drew, I'm glad you like it. Mark, the bird thing is weird. They seem to be popping up more and more in the stuff I do. Amy
