typically nice piece from mr germundson: all the texture we adore from his works, temperate use of color, great balance and so on. it's easy to read metaphorical symbolism into this: the fragile and slightly transparent heart is on a place mat and a steak knife looking instrument is about to carve it up-- or maybe it already has hacked at it a bit, owing to the smears of red. macabre or humorous? it's fun to decide. great piece.

wow wee, nice shot; there is some definate body language here, i think he's about to clack his bill at someone. excellent clarity and color.

amazing image to have stumbled upon, as mr. sussman says, it takes a good eye to ferret this stuff out and bring it well to film, and you've done it. the more i look at it, the more there is a disturbing suggestion of a humanoid form: the heaving chest, leg coming toward us, hand clutching the blood spotted breast... kinda cool in a mysterious way.

nice one. there's a lot going on, but it all hangs together. nice textures and colors too. now the banner artist i CAN criticize: why'd you cut off the angel's hand dude? ;-)

hi folks. thanks for lookin', etc...

hi y'all. thanks for the comments and compliments.
actually ian, you're right: the images combined in this painted photo were in reasonably good focus. part luck, part just circumstance: walking around saguaro national park it is not too terribly hard to approach the apparently human-tolerant cactus wrens, so with a 300mm, i got a decent shot... as shown in the attachment, however, neither of these are images are particularly remarkable by themselves. i just merged these two and "painted" as needed to achieve an oil painting look. i've never been that happy with the results-- that's why i haven't posted it for review-- but i'm ecstatic that you guys like the image. yay! thanks again.

thanks for all comments folks. tim, insightful suggestion, thank you, i think that that would be worth looking at.

cool technique, and it really works with this image, a ghoulish apparition. expert composition and DOF and generally fascinating. to reinforce the night sky, perhaps as a second image altogether, i personally would try the same pic darkened--judiciously of course-- to look like night time. then the red glow would really 'pop'. good shot.

nice image. the fog, balance and subject are all the stuff of great photography. the textured background is a bit too uniform, tho, looks like the pebbled vinyl of 60's upholstery; and with some work you could improve the faux distress on the border, burn in some real age. and i'd lose the drop shadow. that's just me. back to the photo itself: very well shot. bravo.

very nice image, well worth checking out. for me it's all about the red on ultramarine and the black lines. stephanie is right, the bench is cool, but that coffin-like shape above it doesn't help; i think people coming out of the bar--blurred and dark-- would be more interesting than the thematically incongruous person on a bike. the best of the image is in the upper half, where it does rock. cheers.

very cool image. i actually loved it until i got a disturbing visual of blood spurting out of the girls jugular vein. i still like it, the joan miro flavor, great colors and texture-- though now i'm not sure i'd want it six feet wide over my sofa ;-) cheers.
