    interestingly dramatic shot featuring leaping action on the part of the antagonist, and the apparent relative sedateness of the victim. hence the title? calm? what is this, a merciful euthanasia? no, the heart rate of the bull is undoubtedly stratospheric, diminished only by the insidious torment of being methodically exhausted and bled to death. a more apt title might be "crowd cheers bloated bravado of compassion-challenged matador!"

    great texture and subtle color. the dragonfly is a huge bonus to those that look close. however the the power lines distract in my opinion(especially the big one), being the same tonal value as the fly.

    don't hate me because i can't afford a great slide scanner! ;-) i

    floated in grand teton national park's oxbow river bend for a few days

    shooting pelicans in a leaky canoe with a second rate lens and finally

    got a reasonable close-up. i then found the image to be "dead on

    arrival" when it arrived on my computer screen. the only thing to do

    was to go to work in photoshop to attempt to RE-create the beauty i'd

    seen that day. what i'm pushing toward is a carl brenders kind of

    painterly realism. discuss.
