I think this is beautiful. It does look like a cross between a photograph and a painting. The colors are wonderful. As an aside, I wish the moderators would open up a new category for HDR Landscape.

Thanks for the comments. I modified things a little in Lightroom which I am now totally addicted too. The only thing I use PS for now is for stitching panoramics. I took about 30 pictures of this scene in some shape or form and I thought this one worked best with the clouds and the rock in the lower left. I lucked out on the string of clouds just above the horizon that day.

I like it. It does not have the unnatural look of so many HDR photos posted here (including some of my own). I would try to somehow darken the upper third of the photo though as it looks a bit blown out.

It's always fun to be going through the desert and finding a patch of

brilliant color here or there. This patch was next to an old rundown

shack. i wish I had better juxtaposed the two. As I look at it now, the

    shack looks like an afterthought.

  1. Beautiful location for sunset photos. Amazing colors seem to change

every few minutes. I've never seen more than 3 other people there. It is

about 15 minutes northeast of Winslow.I wasn't sure if I should have

cropped out the foreground orange rock as the colors are quite different

from the purples and greens below. I left it for some depth.

Amazingly colorful channel dug into the bone dry desert floor of the

Mojave. It was so windy that I got a free sand-in-your-face peel while I

was taking photos. It's a few miles south of Amboy.
