  1. Thank you both for your comments. I had some shots that had some dead fish on the shore in the foreground but it seemed to detract from the serenity of the water. I suppose more of a close up of one in the foreground would have been interesting. To tell the truth, it was about all I could do to stand and fire off a few quick ones.
  2. I was recently driving by the Salton Sea in late afternoon. The

temperature was about 110 degrees. I saw these beautiful reflections

studding the surface of the sea. I wondered why no one was around to

enjoy this curious scene. I parked near the water and got out of my

car. Within a minute, I was overcome by the combination of a gazillion

buzzing flies and the stench of dead fish cooking in the summer heat.

This was a tough one to take.I took it with my Nikon D-200. The dead

fish and oppressive heat and buzzing flies made me oblivious to any

settings. It is minimally tooled in Photoshop with slight temp and

    contrast adjustment.

It's a beautiful photo. Stunning. I think what really makes it is the lighting and the background. The only thing I wonder about is whether her face should be a touch more illuminated.

Beautiful saturation. I find it a hard place to photograph. It can be rather overwhelming. I'm not sure if it is my monitor or not but it looks like there are a lot of tiny points above the rocks bordering the sky. Is it me?

I love it. It is very creative. I do not think I would change a thing about the lighting or arrangement. As for the call for looking at the original, I am ambivalent about that. I sort of would like to see it but, on the other hand, I doubt Ansel Adams showed a straight unaltered print before showing us the ones we all know.
