This is a wonderful photo. Technically everything looks good. I like the composition, espcially how the hole frames her face and how it is NOT centered on the picture. I like how your lense blurred the background (grass) above her head. Do you remember what apeture you shot this at? The only thing I wish there was was some catch lights in her eyes to make them stand out a bit more, but obviously we can't always get catchlights. Still a VERY cute shot and technically well done.

Oh, dear Amy DON'T give up on the lighting......it takes so much time an patience! I thought I had my highkey down and did a Mother's Day portrait session all day last Sunday and TOTALLY nearly ruined ALL the pictures....it took me about 10 hours in ps to rescue them! I like the lighting here, but can't for the life of me figure out why her eyes are so dark with such small catch lights.....who knows...I didn't think the lights were to high, but they may have been!

Trying out my new fake floor and wall! Thanks for looking!

Luke,
"I love you and your photos" LOL! The concept of this IS very funny. Perfect title and you already know techically it's not so great for the reasons you mentioned, but why is so yellow? Did you have a table lamp around? Very creative concept nonetheless!

Thanks Chad....actually, for the first time I think I made my background to hot! It really started to spill onto the subject. Highkey in my understanding is to be 2:1 where the backdrop is 2 stops hotter than the subject, but I think this is like 3 stops....uhhhhhhh! You can really see the burn out in her hair on the sides. Someday...someday they will come sooc perfectly!

What a pretty girl! What is your diffuser on your flash? I'm thinking about getting the Gary Fong lightsphere thing...I shoot nikon but have the 70-200 2.8 as well and love the thing! Now I just need to get the 28-whatever 2.8.... this photography stuff costs a ton of cash!

Back in the studio....loved this little girl that would hardly crack
a smile! CC ALWAYS welcome!

I'm jealous. This is great in so many ways! Great job!

I finally left the studio and did some outdoor work. My mission, to
get perfect exposure straight out of the camera with my new light
meter and to find natural catch lights (thanks AGAIN Emily K. for
your help and inspirtation!) I think I came pretty close to both
goals. I did NO color editing at all on this shot. I did run a noise
filter and sharpened for the web. Please cc and let me know
what 'cha think.

This is totally amazing....I can't believe how he is just staring through the lense....it's like you can reach into his soul through this picture as the commenter above just said! I really tried to give this a 7/7, but I get an error saying I "can't reciprocate with a 7" because you have given me a 7 in the last 14 days or something....didn't know about this rule, but whatever. AWESOMMMMMMMEEEEE! You are really expanding your style here, bravo!!!!!
