  1. I appreciate that Andrew. some friends ask for comment and once they read something they don't like to hear, they get upset! I have a few Sun captures in my Into the Sun folder if you like to check out.

    Best regards.

  2. What I do like about this is the fact that you did it, I love the sun. It is so overwhelming in this scene that it has an almost a gloom and doom presence. What I wish were improved is actually beyond your control and it's the level of contrast that has blown the colors in the sky. Maybe capturing in raw would have given you more control over exposure. Also under exposing a bit and using curves to recover the mid tones would be an option too.

    best regards.

Your beayle is good too Bonnet but like you said, the colors are a bit washed out. I did enjoy looking at your other macros though, very fine work my friend.

    Cheers.

Well, here you have it, it seems like a very fine composition with nice subtle tones to me.

I'm not sure what it is but seems like part of a tree to me, well done my friend. Also, Thank you for the well wishing for the holidays and the new upcoming year. I wish the same and more to you my friend and may the new year bring you happiness, success and prospertiy.

    Best regrds.

Very good take on the "Pearl Earing" and I congratulate you on this. The earing is dwarfed a bit though and you may want to work on the tones and textures a bit. It's a tad plasticky for my taste and this is meant as an act or encouragement and NOT to undermine your fine work.

    Kind regards.

Sorry for the delay in response as I was trying to locate the original raw file to examine the shooting conditions.
The photo was taken in high noon with a spot metering on the flower. The original file shows the presence of the deep blue taken at a temperature of 4850. I did turn down the temperature about 100 degrees to get the whiter tones on the flower but that did not change the amount of the blue by any significant amount.

My own explanation is that the that the direct light, ambient light, cast light and deeper shadows always have a different temperature and hence a slightly different color shift. I do use this property of light sometimes to create some background colors which visibly do not seem to be there. try this for instance in a room where the subject is in the light of a window facing south/west facing window. If your lens is pointed at the subject, lets say, at a 45 degree to the light source, with a low aperture you should be able to get a bluish background. in the case above, I think the presence of cooler water has also help produce the bluish tones.

    Hope all that makes sense,

    Best regards.

    Curve!

It actually works well and the vertical position is fine. I do think though you can further explore the idea with a more powerful background, something like a light source or such.

    Cheers.

Thank you my dear friend, you have left me speechless. what you have said in your comment, speakes so much more for yourself and your character first and foremost. I do hope we'll have more members like you who shows prejudice and judgement in their evaluations of other people's work instead of putting down copy cat ratings and comments.

    Kind regards

First off, I hope you are having a great holiday season and I do wish you and your family a very happy and productive 2007.

Dave, the result you have obtain here is impressive and let me also mention that you, yourself , are an impressive man as well!
What this does for me also is the fact that I can retrieve more shadow detail from the file at the time f conversion. This is so because by over exposing the shot, it gives more exposure time to the darker areas and hence more data recorded.

I thank you so much for the test results and also your non-competitive, learning attitude.

    Kind regards

    Kind regards.
