Nice shot Graeme. I think it would be presented better without the vignetting and the strong black frame.

Thanks Chuck. I glad you do know because it's almost impossible to get a decent exposure in these conditions...along with the constant haze and mist, but of course it's paradise and you can't beat the scenery. I'll have to try to get up with you the next time I come out there.

If you could mix the two images together you might have a winner here Michael. This one has some black splotches in the sky that really bring it down, and the other one...well the sky is a bit too blue. Love the dynamic range though.

Hey Brian. Nice scene and it seems to be exposed well but the only flaw is, I can see where your grad nd starts.

Straighten square crop works A LOT BETTER.

Thanks all for your comments. Chuck, wish I lived there like you. ;)

We made it up here last week. Of course it was in the middle of the day and we didn't get good light like you have here. Love how the waves are captured here. Good dynamic range too. Is this one exposure?

I use layer masks in PS CS3.

Maxym, the technique really has nothing to do with saturation. The technique is used to achieve dynamic range (to be able to get detail in the lights and darks) There are other ways to achieve this...like using a grad nd filter. The difference between lights and darks were too extreme in this situation even to use a gnd filter though.

Thanks all for your kind words.
John, here you go:

Thanks everyone who commented. This was one of the most difficult scenes to capture. The thick haze and mist was almost impossible to deal with and the polarity of lights and darks were extreme. A 3 stop gnd filter didn't even help so I went with 3 exposures and blended them.

Hey Tony, I was browsing through your portfolio and was quite impressed with your body of work. I'm sorry that I can't say the same for this image. The horizon seems a bit tilted, really no interesting foreground and I think the biggest flaw is the over the top colors. I tend to be heavy handed on saturation at times too, but this goes beyond believeable.

This amazing work. This could be a poster for a movie. Awesome!

Kelly, it was exactly 1 second. f/16. I think Marc would have done more justice to this scene given the opportunity.

Not a bad start. The only obvious mistake was clipping his feet off. Other than that, a decent shot. (excuse the pun)
